Yeah, it looks like a pretty good price to me too - despite how much it’s been driven, it’s obviously well looked after, so it’s probably got plenty of life left in in it

I would really love to know the difference between how much of the maintenance is really needed vs what is “required” by Ferrari.
If Koenigsegg can make damn near bulletproof motors, what’s stopping Ferrari? More importantly, what’s impressive about 150k miles? My SL600 Sport is at 117k, and Ive only had to do valve cover gaskets, suspension accumulators, and fluids, thought the AC compressor and serpentine belt dont get along well.

It’d certainly be worth seeing how much unnessary maintenance Ferrari recommend - I imagine it’s quite a bit
I think the 150k is impressive because this a car that’s notoriously unreliable and prohibitly expensive to look after - very few I’ve seen have more than 50k, so one getting to 150 isn’t bad going, especially in the UK, where ordinary cars rarely make it that far.

What is keeping any company from Making reliable cars? People buy them regardless, so Ferrari has zero motivation. The new ones are likely much better since they have been acquired though.

But how long have you had your SL600? I bought my S600 with 117k and had to do the tandem PS/suspension pump at 125k. Plus valve cover gaskets, front suspension rebuild of all non-ABC parts, A/C recharges, and some other miscellaneous annoying crap. God knows how much I will dump into it this year to fix the steering, driveline vibrations, and the emissions systems.

Been driving it since 2010, it had about 86k on it. I have an R129, so previous gen from your S Class.
Mine was very well maintained by the previous owner, anything that broke was addressed pretty quickly. Valve cover gaskets were preventative maintenance, a couple pullies were starting to go, and the AC compressor needs to be replaced because the bearings and clutch are starting to go. This year it also needs a new set of tires.
I spend more fixing my HEMIWagon every year than the SL....

The car isn’t “notoriously unreliable.” That is not, and never has been, true. It has some fault areas, same as pretty much any automobile, that need to be watched (headers are the big deal, in the case of the F355; clutch on the F1 versions) but when you maintain it as prescribed it goes on just fine. What it does have are notoriously high costs to maintain it “as prescribed,” but that’s not the same thing as being unreliable.
