I arranged them in order of how much I like them. I really like Ascension. I’m a huge Blur/Damon Albarn fan, but I’ve never been as big on Gorillaz. I like them insofar as they’re just Albarn solo albums with guests, but I prefer something like Every Day Robots or The Good, the Bad and the Queen , still, having a new Gorillaz album makes me very happy, and Vince Staple’s rap on Ascension is great.

As an aside, for years I used to think “that Satell-ooooooooo on Satellite of Love sounds so much like Bowie” then I actually looked it up and saw that he produced Transformer and my mind was BLOWN.

Bowie’s cover of I’m Waiting for My Man is adorable. Even though he eventually moved to New York and lived there, he clearly didn’t get the lyric “Hey white boy, what you doing uptown?” and always sang it as “Hey white boy, what you doing in town?” Having lived and bought drugs uptown, I always thought that was adorable. I wonder what he thought 1-2-5 meant.

Was hoping for a light/fun album along the lines of Demon Days. Didn’t find. That’s some dark shit.
