We need to come up with a replacement word for “Hoon.” It just sounds ridiculous. It’s nice having a one syllable word in place of the multi-syllabic phrase “spirited driving,” but “hoon” is defiantly not the answer. Although maybe it doesn’t sound so weird in British English, so y’all can keep it if you’d like. But here in ‘Murica we need something more mature.

Youngin? I’m an old so this won’t count.

“Hoon” perfect as it is. Why invent a new term?

This is why I asked for youngins. They’re okay with coming up with new terms for the same thing every five minutes.

I believe ‘hoon’ is Australian English.

The British English used to be (granted rather sexist), ‘boy racers’ and I think in the most part it’s still the collective acceptable term in the U.K. If not ‘street racers’, when it’s less about speed or racing the usual collective term for youth acting up is ‘yob’ which is used for youth acting up on foot in the street of in a motor vehicle of some sort (most commonly a small engined hatchback that has a way too big exhaust, heavy tinted windows all round and a sound system playing obnoxiously loud by an excessive number of speakers, the driving seat is also usually reclined so low that the driver is not so much ‘sitting’ as ‘laying down’ in their seat).

“Shaft.”

What about rip if it’s not explicitly talking about tires, and shred if it is talking about destroying tires? “Take the (insert car here) out for a rip,” or “shred the Dairy Queen parking lot,” for example.

1) Fair enough

2) A commonly accepted contraction recognized by the Merrian-Webster dictionary, or so I’ve heard.
