I bought a 2000 RAV4 for my daughter and the cover of the armrest console was missing, so I fabricated a solution. The upholstery is a pantleg from a pair of Tactical 5.11 pants that I cut off and hemmed to make them into cargo shorts.

Thanks. I’m no upholsterer, but it’s fairly tidy.

Nicely done.

I love me some 5.11 Tactical trousers, been wearing them for years.

There covert trousers are great for casual as well as smart casual.

I’ve started wearing their shorts and polo shirts. fantastic.

Yeah I’d say it looks pretty good for the price.

I make my own shorts out of pants that I like. I want a 12-1/2" inseam and nobody makes them like that. The 5.11s are a job to shorten because you have to remove the knee pad layer, which requires cutting some stitches on the cargo pocket and resewing.

And they’re woven with nylon in the mix so they are very durable. Almost indestructible.

It’s nice and all but that pattern isn’t nearly 90s enough.

Yep. Double stitched, slight elastic in the fabric and very hard wearing.

Fantastic.

I find there shorts are fantastic. They aren’t too long or too short. They are a little bit off the knee which is great.

Your, ‘fat kid rubbing’, is that a euphemism? Lol.

I’ve got large upper legs and calf muscles, the trousers allow for the rubbing of my upper legs while giving my lower legs room .

Ah that interior. I still miss my 96. No such thing as armrests then. FYI, did you know that the front and rear seats are designed to work as a crappy bed? I had such great naps between classes on those bed seats.

5.11 clothes are always too big on me. I bought a small shirt from them and it was way too long. I gave it to a friend who’s usually a large and it fit him fine.

yeah, fat kid thighs. They’re way more resistant to that than department store offerings.

Probably not information a father wants to hear with regard to his daughter’s car... though I guess it could be good to know for pre-emptive purposes.

Yeah, that thought popped into my mind as well but the good news is that they aren’t comfortable, it’s not done intuitively...You would have to know it does it and how...and oc and I have at least some confidence she knows better, based on what I know of oc and his family.
