Kinja'd!!!

I let a buddy use it last year and it came back “clean” with a 30pk attached. I didn’t look too close. I should have. The guts were packed with hardened clear. Dammit!

(Yes, it’s just a cheap HF gun. It works as well as a $500 Binks gun for what I do though)

I’ve never had to clean one of those out before. Looks like a real pain. Closest thing I’ve had to deal with is unclogging one of these airless guns, and they come apart in the middle:

The internals are similar. Pain doesn’t begin to describe it.

It still doesn’t feel right but We’re going anyway. It’s only the base coat.

Toss it and just get a new one. Too much of a pain and sometimes not worth rolling the dice with non-hardware store paint.

Also, go for a high flow quick disconnect if that’s not one.

This gun and I have bonded. I can’t ditch something I’ve bonded with.

Aren’t those like $9.99? I don’t mean to be offensive but I would just never clean one and just throw it away. Well unless I had a bunch of little jobs to do than I probably wouldn’t.

Have you tried the “PROFESSIONAL” paint gun I picked one up for like $49.99 and I really like it. It is really well made surprisingly.

Hey now! It was $29.95..

I have better guns. I can’t use them on an experiment though.

This gun will be heading to the great recycling yard in the sky after this excursion.

Yup. They’ll keep running great if they are cleaned quickly and thoroughly, but if it sits it may not ever be quite right again.

Oh see at that price I would totally clean it. BTW cleaning paint guns sucks! I usually just want to stand there and admire my work but instead I am stuck taking apart a fiddly precision instrument and brushing crap with smelly thinner.
