Kinja'd!!!

I went down to a local monument company (headstones, statuary, etc) yesterday to get the frame, swinger and some misc parts blasted. $30 with less than 24 hour turnaround! I’m going to be bringing a lot of stuff to these guys.

We’re up on our third coat of etching primer now. I’m rattle canning the primer (SEM 39693 green) because someone left his primer gun in Chicago. Good stuff though. It’s not meant to build but it can.

If the weather holds up the frame should be in color tonight.

What color did you decide on?

It’s a multi-part finish. Black base coat with an intentionally “crazed” (fisheye or hammered) coppersh color coat and then a clear.

Temps are dropping and humidity is rising though. It may have to wait a week.

Do most monument places sandblast things? Do they use it to etch granite or something?

It’s how they do anything with stone/concrete.

Good to know. When I added a loading dock to my warehouse I found a 32"cog of some sort. Looks like the drive cog for an old, smaller bulldozer. I want to get it sandblasted, but I don’t want to spend a ton.
