Ford cars = great products. Ford service = impossibly incompetent

On my third dealership for car issues all caused by a dealership changing the front rotors and pads. Quick recap

Dealer #1 (dealership in CT I visited while on vacation)- Replaced rotors and pads, claimed brake lines were damaged and needed to be replaced so they were, then claimed pedals were aftermarket and were causing caliper issues - adjusted “for free”. AFTERMATH - car brakes like shit, brake switch wasn’t working correctly, and car was way down on power

Dealer #2 (local one near where I work) - Cleaned brake switch and quoted me on replacement, claimed that the pedals were STOCK (which is correct!) and the pedals were not adjusted, but the brake switch was played with. Told me my MAF was gummed up from oil from an aftermarket filter. AFTERMATH - brakes work. Car still sluggish.

Dealer #3 (dealer I got the car from) - Scheduled appointment for glass repair under a third party warranty, some corrosion on one of my doors, and to look into boost leaks. AFTERMATH - canceled my appointment because their body shop handles corrosion issues and the body shop is a different appointment. Also, the glass chip warranty info isn’t stored in their records so I need to find it myself and hope they’ll reimburse. And I’m not shelling out another 100$ diagnostics fee that I probably won’t get reimbursed for at this point.

Oh, and I called Ford to complain and they “filed a complaint” on my behalf and only took my name and zip code for information and then hung up on me.

Fuck you, Ford. I’m about to get loud on social media. I’m so tired of the stonewalling. 800$+ and guess what? My FiST is *almost* back to the way it was before I dropped it off for service! SUCH A GREAT VALUE!!!!

Pictured are the likely culprits of my power loss. Likely knocked off during it’s service. I am one more “Well, we can’t help you” away from naming them. Just hold tight on buying a Ford if you’re in Connecticut.

How do you do this in a meaningful manner? My smart still has a ruined door (dealer did it three months ago and still refuses to make it right) and a passenger door with a worse panel gap than a crashed Saturn, but dealership keeps saying “cannot replicate”. Uhhh what? Can you NOT SEE THE GIANT VALLEY?!?!?!?!? The whistling from the latter is simply unacceptable considering the fix for it would probably only take them 10 minutes at the most.

I’d do it myself, but not only do I not trust myself making those adjustments, but I have a gosh darned warranty for a reason!!!!!

Those dealerships must not send out surveys. Because if they did they’d be bending over backwards to help you.

Sorry you’ve had such shitty luck. I say give them one more shot and then let them have it if they don’t fix it

or they don’t care, or are not in the greatest financial shape. It’s hard to get your franchise pulled except in extreme circumstances (fraud, etc.) And in my experience, pretty much any retailer (store, auto shop, dealer, tradesperson, etc.) who resorts to stuff like dealer #1 is on thin ice already.

Better Business Bureau? That’s what I just did. When your customer service rep hangs up on me? Fuck it - time to make noise. The BBB is just a soapbox on a street corner. But if that doesn’t work, TO THE FORUMS!!!!! Also names and places will be posted.

What’s scary is their dealership is 4.9 out of 5 stars on google. I am almost wondering if there are fake reviews or something....

I’ve been a big Ford fan for my whole life, but I’ve kind of given up on them recently.

Our ‘08 Edge had a random dead battery that no one could identify the cause of, shredded the CD selector gears inside the CD changer during one of those dead battery occurances, and then started making noise on a non-servicable U-joint on a driveshaft that would cost $450-900 to replace (parts only).

I can understand the mystery dead battery, it’s a complex system and any number of errors or manufacturing problems could have acted in concert to make it impossible to find. But a CD player that shreds itself and U joints that can’t be replaced? WTF Ford?

Hmm, I have a Taurus SHO and had to have a turbo replaced, they obviously didn’t test drive after replacing it because under acceleration it wouldn’t build ANY boost, it was just constantly blowing it off. Turns out they missed reconnecting a tiny little hose, which I imagine goes to a boost sensor. I hooked it up and just hoped for the best, car has been fine so far. But I just have this nagging feeling that something might blow up.

Why do you go to the stealership for this stuff? Cars with warranties are starting to seem like more work then cars you can work on yourself.

Warranty is pretty much gone and I went to the dealer because I was on vacation when my brakes wore down to metal on metal. I cooked them badly coming through the mountains and I didn’t exactly bring my.tools with me some 1000 miles from home.

And in any case, you’d think I could trust a dealership to replace front brakes easily enough....Not.my.faukt they don’t know what Ford parts on a Ford look like.

I trashed my Ford dealer on the post-purchase survey of a new car at Christmas and never heard a peep from the dealer, or Ford.

I actually live in CT and visited a Ford dealer recently. Long story short, I definitely will not be buying a car from that particular dealer due to how much smoke they were trying to blow up my ass. I wonder if it’s the same one...

Hahahaha. Bingo. Maybe that means that there is at least one good dealer in this state instead of two terrible ones? ;)
