GRRR that lady with the British accent. You know they only had her there because ‘oh if someone from Europe says it’s an $80k car than it must be so!’ THIS COMMERCIAL AND ALL WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA NEED TO BE FIRED OUT OF A RAIL GUN AIMED AT THE SUN

The parody of it was quite satisfying, though. :)

That’s glorious! I hope they do one for each of the “Chevy” commercials.

They made a few of them. I really liked this one though.

My takeaway? Most people don’t know SHIT about cars. Just badges. Sad!

The PR for Chevy lately seems to be overselling it, namely to ‘everyday people’. It sort of offends me that Chevy thinks so little of its potential customers, that they act like we know absolutely nothing. Sure, Chevy customers might actually be like that, I can’t say for sure, but as a gear head myself, I don’t want a ad targeting my demographic to think do lowly of me.

Also, they may be real people, but I’m pretty sure they are under contract to say only nice things. Lol.

Haha! that was great! thanks for sharing that.

Same goes for the Chevy Truck commercials and they suddenly show not 2 but 5 special editions and the people just start freaking out about how cool they are. Wow the bumper is the same color as the truck, so cool! . Even my wife thinks it’s a joke and she certainly doesn’t care about cars/trucks.

I’m an advocate of at least learning and knowing the make and model of your car and the cars on the road; and if it’s FWD, RWD, etc. Worse car scenario, someone hits your car and drives away. Your life will be easier if you can identify the make, model, and color of the car. License plate helps too, but you can’t always read the plate fast enough.

Knowing if it’s FWD or RWD helps with towing.

I work in a Chevy shop and many of our customers are that lowbrow. Its not fun dealing with them, but its a job.

Many Murkans also have a thing for the British accent. They seem to think it means credibility and class. Weird.

“It has cup holders” “noooooo waaaaaasy!!!!!!!!!!”.

I hate conforming to what most people like, but i genuinely prefer the F-150 truck over the Silverado. I just dislike like most Chevys in general. Many seem unimaginative, bland cars, that aren’t interesting. I’d only purchase a Chevy because the car ran, it was a good deal, and met the needs of my family. I prefer Pontiac because it’s like the cool cousin that isn’t appreciated. But anything a Chevy can do, the cousin just one-ups him.

Let me tell a story that might give some hope to you. My first car was a pt cruiser. I bought it because it was low miles, and I needed a car since I was about to get married. I knew absolutely nothing about cars at that time. Fast forward a few years, the car shakes when driven, wife tells me to take it in, I kept saying ‘later’. I did eventually take it in, found out that the Florida heat, aided by my lack of maintenance, was literally tearing the tire apart. $800+ in repairs and parts.

It was at that moment I decided to get more involved with my car to understand how it works and operates, to prevent another huge bill like that from happening. What I’m trying to say, is that some people do aspire to not be so lowbrow. There hope for humanity yet!

Thanks for the story. Its nice to know there is hope for the world. BTW my daughter who is now a buyer for a national clothing chain watched me enough as a kid to learn a few things. She can check fluids on her Audi. She changed a thermostat on my old 1992 Cavalier V6 when she was 10 yrs old while I changed a serpentine belt. She has replaced the rear gears on a mountain bike and can change a tire in heels. She is 27 now and knows more about cars than anybody in her office. She may be a girly girl now but still isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. When there is a car question some of her coworkers ask her for advice. She has corrected guys at lunch when they are in a heated car guy discussion and she hears something that totally wrong. She has made me feel proud more than once. BTW she totally despises those Chevy commercials.

I’ve had different people ask me if my bmw wagon was a Subaru (by a Subaru OWNER!) and a VW jetta - they asked me if it was part of the diesel recall.

I’m fine with that, because both have a better “image” than bmw in the eyes of those same people.

Also, LOL - “MAHK”

I have a 2015 GMC SLE Sierra. Lol... I only have because of work reason but I get what your saying. Trust me it’s as bland as they come. It’s dead to the world and so boring. It hates going around corners, braking, accelerating and has no reason to live. Also 13 Cup holders, I shit you not.

My F150 previously was pretty good. At least you could feel the road when you were driving it, never had a problem with it. I know Ford has a reputation to up hold and that reputation didn’t come through with that truck. 450,000 kms. nothing went wrong. Oh wait, I forgot, I had to replace the turn signal relay. lol.

The Tundra I had before, well, that’s a different story and I loved that truck and I dislike driving trucks.
