My family had to put their dog Toby to sleep tonight, they got him after I moved out but I still spent plenty of time with him and have the feels. They got him from the pound almost 10 years ago so he had a good life, but my sisters (who already struggle with bipolar disorder and depression) are taking it pretty badly. After they made the decision yesterday though the whole family stayed up with him all night so he had a good final 24 hours, it just sucks being 1100 miles away from literally my entire family.

That sucks. I’m so sorry for the loss. I have a Toby as well. He’s 11 and we got him last year from a shelter in Missouri. My wife and I absolutely love him. He was put in a shelter because, as part of a divorce settlement, he could not be kept be either person. It worked great because now we get to love him for the time he has left. I’m glad your family got to enjoy their Toby for as long as they did. My condolences.

We are going through exactly the same thing right now with our lab. Brought her home from the emergency vet last night so she could have one final night at home. And now she seems perkier so it’s going to be 100x harder to take her today. Life sucks sometimes. All the feels to you.
