Holy crapsnacks that’s a lot of loss on the new DMax. The other trucks dyno’d pretty much what I expected but shitballs, 25%/15% drop respectively on the Chevy, that’s a fuckton of loss.

Seat of the pants for me the Ford has the biggest balls, the throttle mapping and turbo are also more condusive for better engine response.

Yeah, curious to see if this can be replicated by another tester. If so, bad news for Chevy.

Dat Cummins tho.

Also TFL never disappoints at being disappointing. “828, its supposed to be 900 .... the mustang dyno is known as a heartbreaker now you know why.”

Bruh, thats less than 10% drivetrain loss, or you know shows that it makes more than claimed.

Is 20% still relevant anymore? You’d think dyno technology would be improving too. If every engine is “losing less than it should” then maybe the dyno is eating less power? I’d be amazed if it was still a 20% estimated loss to the dyno.

That is a very disappointing performance by the chevy.

How is it that an FCA product seems to have come out on top?

Probably because the engine isn’t made by FCA.

So I keep thinking that they ran this test wrong for the Ford and Chevy, either doing the pull in a gear that limits torque, or by not fully disabling electronic controls and so the trucks were again pulling torque. The drop for the ram is expected, but the drops for the Ford and Chevy are way out of line, especially considering these exact same trucks stomped all over the RAM on the same hill with the same trailer.

Also, why no charts? I want to see what the curves look like, not just the peaks. As far as I recall the cummins is very peaky and has a pathetically low redline.

I think they ran the test wrong, the Chevy which doesn’t weigh too different to the ram has proven to be faster with the same load on the same hill (these same trucks even) so it was either in regen, or pulling torque electronically.

Yeah, I’d like to see that, or see someone else test all 3 same day/same dyno.

From a total ownership experience, I’ve heard that the Cummins engine is the best from a long term ownership point of view.

Makes sense given the fact that they have tons of experience.

I’m sure (hopeful) its not 20% anymore as automakers try to eek everything out engines these days. Efficiency and not losing power sure is part of that. Hell, there was a meeting about a half a millimeter next to me today.

Just realized that if it was 20% drivetrain loss that’d put the cummins over 1000lbft. Damn.

Having towed with a mid-2000's Cummins and Duramax, I see GM still overrates the Duramax. The Duramax feels incredibly weak in comparison, all the while being rated more powerful.

Because Cummins, not FCA.

The Ford looks inline, but the Chevy seems strangely off.
