Hey guys, we’re looking to reserve a spot for Oppo-Meet, so we need to get an idea of how many are going to attend.
As mentioned in the last post, we could reserve a picnic area ($25). However, if there are enough participants willing to chip in, we can reserve a whole pavilion, which would be great in case it rains. (These pavilions run about $100.)
Saturday, May 6th is currently the leading date of choice. That also happens to be the start of the “ Saturday in the Park ” program that closes a portion of Hines Drive, however that shouldn’t be too much of a problem so long as we pick a spot closer to Plymouth or Northville, away from the closure.

This is the first year for our area, so it won’t be anything fancy. As it stands right now, we’re just planning to hang out and have a little cookout. Our meet will have a sort of “cars & coffee” flavor to it, but having a “cool” car is NOT a prerequisite to attend. We’d love to have you!

I’m in for sure. I don’t post on Oppo (or Jalopnik) much anymore, but my credentials are in order. I rode the ferris wheel at Le Mans this past year with a fellow Oppo and his fiance (and swiped them some water, and much needed coffee from the hospitality tent I was a guest in...), if I could remember his username for the life of me I’d post it... anyway, I also made an appearance at the Woodward Jalopnik meetup back in the Ray Wert days, he was rockin the new at the time SLS... aaaand I’ve drank with Caswell, twice. So, ya know, I might not have a brown diesel wagon but my cred goes way back.
My garage at M1 is due to be completed by early June... once I get a feel for how many people I can host and how conducive it would be to such an event I’ll totally host something later in the summer or Fall if there’s interest.

Thanks for the clarification! I’ve only been around Oppo for a couple of years myself, so maybe that’s why I missed it. I wonder what happened there, and why I didn’t see it when I ran a search.
Oh well, maybe we’ll just call this Oppomeet 2.0 or something like that. I would like for it to become an annual thing. What did you guys do in previous years? Cookout? Karting?

It’s pretty nice, I bought a smaller unit (600 square ft.), I’m installing a lift and I’m looking forward to having a place to store and work on my cars. The 6 hours of track time per in-season week is a big plus. I drove the track a few times last year, it’s a great track. They also have pretty stellar instructors/staff on hand. Manufacturers also occasionally drop off cars for garage owners to check out and drive, which is pretty fantastic. I’ve been waiting a year to get into my unit, and I’m very much looking forward to it.

So, the AutoX Test-N-Tune day is limited to 40 registrants, but the AutoX on Sunday is open to whomever registers. The good news is that it is at the Schoolcraft Livonia Public Safety Training Complex, so not far from Hines. Not sure if you would want to make this a 2 day thing? Show-N-Shine on Saturday, and racing on Sunday?

Neat idea, but two days is unfortunately more than I can commit to a meet-up.
I won’t rule it out as an option for future years, though. With a little more planning, it could be a cool venue. I’ve never been to one. Is it open to spectators, and not just participants?
