There was some unusual traffic to say the least.
The V22 is utterly massive up close, it’s crazy! Some shots are a bit dusty, my sensor desperately needs cleaned.

Nice MV-22. My friend just sent me some pictures of one of those that was flying out of Bridgewater Airport in rural VA on a training mission. HMX-1 is using the Osprey to replace their VH-53s. They fly the Secret Service, the president’s staff, and the media. But they still own’t let the POTUS fly on one. That shot of the pilot on the wing gives a great idea of the size of these beasts.

They’re also incredibly loud. We get occasional flyovers from Pentagon bound ones shuttling VIPs, and they are house shaking. Distinctly different from anything else up there.

While sweet, they buzz my house/work regularly and are stupendously noisy if they’re not in cruise which gets a bit annoying at 0300.

I used to work in a high rise in downtown Chicago. When Obama would come to town in one of those they would fly relatively close to our building, as we were the furthest west skyscrapers. The sound from those rotors would shake the building. It was incredible. You could feel it coming before it ever got into sight.

They are cool to watch take off and land. The 58th Special Operations Group is on Kirtland AFB in ABQ, and they use a mesa near Elephant Butte Lake as a training area from time to time. Several times we’ve gotten to spend an afternoon on the lake watching dozens of take offs and landings. They have a very distinct sound. Part of me wished that I had gotten to fly on one during my time in the Marine Corps. I think it would’ve be neat.

I flew in Ospreys a lot, jumped out of them too. They doo look crazy in person for the first time.
