Kinja'd!!!

Haters step off. My beloved Buick Verano (I own a ‘13 model) is rated by Consumer Reports as the best entry-level luxury car on the market . Still. In its 6th and final model year. The CLA is rated the worst.

I’m feeling pretty damn pleased with myself.

Haters? Everyone knows the CLA is trash.

Nice of you to lend them your car! Did Buick even make more than one? /s

The Verano is better than dead lifts, sous vide, and index funds

This is worthy of a post? There are Buick haters here? Although that A-pillar triangle window would drive me nuts.

Even MB devotees see the CLA for what it is. CR feigns surprise poorly.

The Verano is only a controversial product in the context of Buick’s traditional product line. On its own it’s a good premium compact car.

Yes. It is. And I love the A-pillar windows. They lighten up the cabin. Better than if they blanked them off with plastic.

Haha! Indeed.

Buick made about 1 Verano turbo 6-speed manual. But they made a couple hundred thousand Veranos in total.

The CLA is a dumpster fire of a car.

True about the plastic. They should have designed a greenhouse without DLO issues :)

Regarding CLA, a 190E was around 30K in 1990. Something will have to give for 35K MB in 2017.

My folks have a base 2012, it’s tight with three in the back, but it’s a nice driving car. Oh and they got it for $14K Trudeaubucks on the road three years ago with 40K kms. They’re ridiculous value, IMHO. Not sure why anyone would buy a Cruze used when they could have a Verano for similar money.

Seconding this, they’re great.

Consumer reports ranks the Verano 1st in the segment. Car & Driver ranks it last. That says a lot about both the publications and the car. I respect the Verano, but I’ll stick with an A3 or 2-Series.

Ahh, nah man any Buick kills the CLA interior wise especially.

Buicks are high on our list for our next car. The new LaCrosse catches my eye every time I see it, which surprises me. It doesn’t look all that interesting in the press pictures.

Can’t wait for the Regal wagon to hit showrooms. I’m hoping it has enough rear legroom that we can ditch the SUV.

If I had to go out on the road again for sales, the Verano would be high on my list. You can buy them for peanuts used, and every Buick I have been in has been super comfy.

I actually really like the Verano and prefer it over the Astra sedan.

Too bad the new Astra won’t land on your shores.

Yeah, and it’s not even that controversial. From 1961-63 and 1973-98, they offered premium compact cars.

The thing about the CLA that really astounds me is it’s the same size as a C-Class, so you’d think it being FWD would give it an interior packaging advantage. But no, it has the same interior volume as the RWD C. So dumb.

Exactly. And that 2.4L standard engine makes more power, much more smoothly than the Cruze’s sometimes-temperamental 1.4T.

Yeah, I get why a lot of enthusiast pubs don’t “get” the Verano.

I think James May would, though.

Agreed. I wish I weren’t still upside down in my loan. :P

The Verano is incredibly comfortable and solid-feeling. And I get so many compliments from fellow millennials when they ride with me. I also get made fun of because it’s a Buick.

And the claustrophobia. I am not insanely tall at 6'1", but the low windows in that (and the original CLS) really bug me. I couldn’t deal with it. I’d take a year old C instead.

Funny thing - the woman who parks next to me where I live has a CLA. She LOVES it. Basic spec too, no sunroof.

I guess you gotta move to China to ne able to buy one. Though I prefer the first gen over the second.

Yeah the NA 2.4L is a nice engine, it’s no slouch that’s for sure, and likely to be longer-lived than the 1.4T.

If I could afford a Lacrosse with AWD, it would be my next car, might “settle” for a new Regal when it comes out.
