Kinja'd!!!

If the Demon is only available with an automatic , who cares? Admittedly, I find everything about these cars to be mind-numbingly boring. I’m as interested in a street legal drag racer as I am in a Camry. It appeals to me in absolutely no way whatsoever.

What is lost by not having a manual? I mean, manuals are fun because they let you wring out engines, choose what gear to be in, downshift, etc. None of these things are things that this car is intended to do. It’s literally car designed to go from one point to the other in a straight line very fast. Its transmission has one job: hit redline, go up a gear. And we’re at the point where automatics can move through gears faster than a person can anyway, so who cares if there’s no manual? I mean, if you want a manual, that’s great and you’re doing God’s work, but then why would you buy a Demon? I mean, you’re already making a ton of sacrifices for a car that does exactly one thing very well. Why should it surprise anyone a manual wouldn’t be an option?

I’m still waiting for the hot take.

I don’t think this is that hot of a take. Even the standard hellcats do nothing for me. I also don’t understand the desire for a manual in a car like the demon.

I agree. Especially with bit about not caring about the hellcat

they dont have money to develop a manual with AWD

the only manual box that was available was the TR6060 (rwd only)

Like your best friend telling you all about that girl he pulled home after last call at the dive bar, this isn’t as hot as you claim it to be.

Sticks in drag cars are fun (though probably not the fastest way down the strip)!

It feels like you’re driving a 10 second car when you actually have a 12 second car!

I guess if you have a 10 second car it feels like an 8 second car.

I can’t think of any big drag cars that are manual these days. Drag racing is about consistency as much as speed. Autos will always be more consistent than a human

Weeeellll, it’s not even so much about the consistency of the shift as the fact that planetaries are just so damn strong for the weight and allow for upshifting under load, which is a huge plus.

I dont think its a hot take any more to call the Hellcats and Demons over rated, 1/4 mile anchors that any halfway decent turbo LS swap could out do . I think everyone is tired of Dodge stringing this BS out for months all for trying to get hype around a brand that if it wasnt for Jeep would have failed years ago.

Fuck the Hellcat, Fuck the Demon, Fuck Dodge, Fuck Chrysler, Fuck Sergio in his greedy asshole, and fuck all the boomers for plaguing us with these 5 ton whale barges masquerading as muscle cars. If you like the Hellcat, you’re no better than ISIS.

^^That is how you do a hot take. Post this without any indication of sarcasm or irony to any dodge forum and you’ll get 6k comments minimum, none of which are positive.

Lukewarm take at best! Ha ha.

Don’t discount the durability and tune-ability of drag autos, either.

Its AWD isn’t it? I assumed they wanted to make this as fast as the car could be, and an auto is the way to do that.

Surprised? Yes actually. Concerned? Hell naw. There are tons of better choices for driving engagement at that price point than the challenger. Considering this car will be bought entirely by boomers and speculators, an automatic actually puts this thing in its own mini category.

Anyone who wants a challenger should get a model with the 392 and not throw money away on that garbage.

Auto makes sense on a car fully built to be a dragstrip queen. Easier launches, more consistent runs, handles abuse better.

Though a Lenco would be an awesome option to have in a factory car.

Psh... Obviously a manual is the only choice for purists like me; you know, people who ACTUALLY like to drive cars instead of be driven by them. Who cares if it adds 1.4 seconds to the ‘Ring time; that’s a small price to pay for the pure connection between man and machine.

Fuck... that was physically painful to write...
