I saw my first XE in the wild.

I am in absolutely no way biased, but that is a damn good looking car. Much better than it looks in photos. It also surprisingly looks nothing like an XF. When I saw it coming up in my mirror, I immediately knew it had to be an XE, just because it looked so different from any other current Jag.

I don’t know why these things aren’t selling like hot cakes. I mean, if I had $50k to spend, I would probably spend it on a different Jag than the R-Sport pictured here, but at $40k for the base 3.5 RWD, it seems pretty competitive.

My only gripe with the XE is the interior is kinda drab. I’d expect a nicer one for the money. But yes, they look excellent IRL

Personally, I don’t think they have nearly enough wood. If you’re charging $300 for a wood veneer, I’d expect to have it in more places than just surrounding the gear selector. Granted, I’m happy any time there’s any veneer option besides bullshit carbon fiber and smudgy glossy black (I’m looking at you, F-Type).

I’ve seen exactly 2 on the road since they’ve been out. A base model white one and a optioned out red one. The base model looks like trash both from a distance and upclose. When you option it out with the R sport package it really transforms the car. That red one looked awesome.

Eh, I can’t explain it from the photos, but in the rear view mirror, it was immediately obvious that this wasn’t an XF, despite having no sense of the length or the size.

Ehhhhhhhh, considering it’s an XJ, new XJs are really light on wood.

I expect my big Jaguar saloons to have all of the wood .

The XE is a car that I continually forget exists.

There is in fact a Jaguar dealer here in Madison (it’s Jag/Land Rover/Volvo from back when they were all under the Ford umbrella) but I rarely if ever see any Jaguars around.

Their inventory at the moment is 20 cars. The mix is F-Pace: 7, XE: 4, F-Type: 3, XF: 3, XJL: 2, XJ: 1. 2 each of the F-Pace and XE are diesels.

The Jaguar I see most often is a white current-gen XJ on particularly garish giant chrome wheels with white color-matched sections that is often parked in a rougher neighborhood that happens to be between my house and gym. Pretty sure I know its owner’s profession.

I have seen an F-Type once.

Looking through the Jag dealer’s inventory I can’t help but wonder what’s going on with Jaguar interiors. They look fine but the materials seem cheap looking.

To me they both look gorgeous, but they really took “brand identity” courses at Audi University it seems

I agree. They’re incredibly hard to tell apart from the XF, especially from the rear. At least they’re both good looking.

Me too, but that doesn’t excuse all of the space where there could also be wood, but there isn’t. Especially that center console. It already has a veneer! Why wouldn’t you match it to the wood veneer!

I’m with you 100%. The XE has a presence of it’s own.
