Poor thing has only 21,000 miles. Car is completely filthy inside and out. Cause of failure, never changed the oil. According to the customer.....

“Well, the salesman told me that oil changes were a thing of the past”. *facepalm*

Windowed the block. 2nd one in 10 months. Well, at least in our Volvo side.

Kinja'd!!!

Salesman didn’t say that btw. He just mentioned the features on the car’s navi that helps advise when service is do, even showing where the closest dealer is and all that fancy new connected car deal. Helps make appointments and all that stuff. The customer also purchased the super extended Factory Scheduled Maintenance program. The car is fully equipped. Again, suuuuper dirty inside and out. Shame :’(

The owner needs to get themselves one of those self-driving electric cars and be done with it.

I don’t get how someone can be this dumb but still get money for a new Volvo. Sometimes I don’t get how the world works.

He doesn’t deserve that car. So what happens now? He will have to pay for an engine replacement out of pocket right?

Wow it blew up only 3k past my cars service interval. Id expect damage but damn.

I’m surprised that this occurred after 21k miles. Considering that most manufacturers have 10k intervals (don’t know about Volvo) and most good synthetics can go 15-18000, you’d think that they could get 30-40k miles or more before extreme damage (so long as it didn’t run dry).

my aunts camry made it to like 50k miles with no oil changes. she had some service package and just assumed whenever she had her tires rotated and the car cleaned they also changed her oil, oops

I think that the oil in the car we delivered has an additive for “break in” purposes. I could be mistaken but I think I heard that one time here in a meeting

It’s more common in our Mercedes side. I know it happens to all brands for sure. Not too long ago it happened in a DB9 or DBS

Honestly, this carelessness and stupidity shouldn’t be rewarded. Nobody ever learns a lesson by getting a pat on the back. Make him or his insurance pay for the replacement and I promise he’ll NEVER forget to change the oil in a car ever again, life lesson learned.

Oh dayum. I once drove a GX470 a good way before realizing the oil light was on. It had the oil drained but none was put back it. That truck is still driving today. Flippin Toyota engines, yo!

And here is where I preach about high mileage oil change intervals. Preach, Preach, preach, preach, preach. I know my subaru was burning about 1 qt/2000 miles. It’s not going to survive to 7500 miles without adding more oil.

I believe these cars come with a “break in: additive in their oil from the port. Volvo ONLY lets us use Castrol Edge Professional synthetic afterwards or it will void the warranty/ not be covered for maintenance plan

You be very surprised all the stuff dealerships from different brands give away that shouldn’t be rewarded. Gotta keep the customer happy no matter the cost to the dealer or brand directly

After 5+ years, dude.... i’ve seen too much on those things. My direct future has me more towards that brand but there is still a good 30 ish % that my boss will jump ship back to Ferrari and he’s taking me with him. Will that 100% be the thing to kill off my automotive enthusiasm? Seeing such an elite brand in total shambles? I’ve heard some stories from there and they’re not good :’(
