We run into bad drivers pretty often. Occasionally bad enough that you want to drag them out of their cars and do a “public service” by taking their license away.

And then, once in a blue moon, you run into someone who who want to chase down and congratulate on being a good driver. Shout out to the driver of this Honda Civic.

- Took advantage of a gap to break into traffic in a competent manner, in no way impeding me or anyone around me

- Maintained steady and reasonable speed

- When stopping, allowed suitable buffer space without being hesitant

- Practiced good lane discipline, only remaining in the left lane when passing

- Sensible without being hesitant or overcautious—this is HUGE for me

- Merged onto the highway closer to the car in front at a speed slightly greater than the lane they were entering, proceeding to brake very lightly and briefly to match speed

- Smooth transition from lane to lane (two highways split here, you have to get across 3 lanes in a hurry to get to the second highway) with vehicles in the way, requiring deceleration rather than acceleration to change lanes, completed without interference to other traffic

...a few of those points hit a little close to home. Anyway, 10/10 would drive behind again.

U da real MVP, Civic driver.

Kinja'd!!!

(Side note: I can’t stop staring at the apparently not-upside-down reflection of the number “46”. It’s hurting my brain.)

HELL YES.

And I didn’t notice that. But now that you mention it, the part of the hood close to the windshield is right way up as well. Just the way it bends I guess. There’s a crease along the edge of the hood that account for “46".

I’ve been behind cars thinking “oh god, here we go again” only to have them get up to speed and use the on ramp in a perfectly sensible manner. That just makes my day better.

Exactly what I was thinking when they first pulled out. Oh shit, here comes beigezilla getting in the way again. I moved over to go by... and didn’t catch up.

So nice when that stuff happens.

I was behind someone the other night who slowed for a speed limit drop, and it had one of those radar signs that reads your speed in green when you’re at or below, and flashes it in red if you’re above.

Well this guy kept it in the green, right at 25.

Congrats!

Oh, but then you rolled the stop sign after cutting the corner and going over the white line onto the shoulder.

Well, we can’t be perfect ALL of the time.

One of the people who travels at a given speed under any circumstances.

Whether they’re in a school zone, residential street, at a stop sign, on a main road or on the highway, their speed is constant like that of light in a vacuum...

I hate the roads around here that go from 25 - 35/45 - 55 in a short period of time.

They either cause drivers to speed before the increase, or speed past the signs denoting a drop... and both of those instances cause tailgating because the car in front of them is following the signs like they’re supposed to.

And once in while you get the drivers that forget to speed up at all.
