If you’ve played NFS Underground 2 you probably remember starting out in Rachel’s Green 350Z.

Kinja'd!!!

But something you probably didn’t notice, I know I didn’t, is that it didn’t have a 350Z interior. As you drive I tot the car lot to pick up your first car it shows this dash.

Kinja'd!!!

Which is pretty clearly an RX8 interior. The Tach, the digital Speedometer, the red glow on the center stack. And that rotary redline. It all matches. Except in the close up, they switched the oil and coolant temp gauges, weird.

Kinja'd!!!

I ever noticed this, and actually learned it from a YouTube comment but, I thought it was neat enough to share.

Underground is where I stopped playing the series. I wanted to drive exotics, not civics.

What’s funny is that imports like the Integra Type R and the R34 Skyline GT-R are probably now rarer in the US than exotics after many have been riced/crashed/stolen.

It’s hard enough finding a clean Neon R/T coupe...let alone the ACR variant!

I stopped playing when they moved away from tuners and back to Exotics. Lol

That’s not true, I still play the new Most Wanted every once and awhile. I love playing around in the SLS AMG, Viper, 918 Consept, and Ariel Atom.

But basically I loved the Underground series, because it showed you could take a normal car and make it something special. Any game can put you in a 911 but Underground put you in a Neon and told you to make it better.

in a lot of the beta builds she was in an RX-8. This makes sense.

I was still salty over the Fast and Furious teens in their Civic EXs.

I’m pretty sure the R34 has always been rarer.

Damn, different strokes for me. Underground is what got me into the series. My computer couldn’t run Motor City Online or Hot Pursuit, and before that, I had hand-me-down Test Drive and Moto-Racer games for my PC. Due to my upbringing, I already knew I’d never sit in an exotic car unless it was at an auto show, but It was nice seeing my sister’s Sentra and other attainable cars in a game for the first time. The latest NFS game, however, is crap.

I’m fairly sure the PS2 version never had an interior view

I started with the first, NFS:SE. I actually didn’t mind the new one. My favorite is probably the simulation ones that came out a few years ago.
