Kinja'd!!!

headlights that are connected to the grille

edit: now i don’t have a problem with them, mostly just SKINNY HEADLIGHTS AND LARGE GRILLES

WHY??????

thanks to BMW and the F30 3 series, everyone is joining in on the bandwagon now (just kidding, someone fact check me, that’s when I first started noticing them)

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

one of the minor updates to the 2017 GC was the headlights, which are now connected to the grille.

Honda has most certainly jumped on the bandwagon

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

so has audi!

WHY? Cars look perfectly fine with headlights that don’t connect to the grille. one of the only good applications i’ve seen this design is on the BMW X3

Kinja'd!!!

i mean, they don’t all look terrible, but certain cars could look much better without the connected grille-headlights, such as this CC below

But...but....this is an ancient tradition.

Lights inside the grille:

Lights attached to the grille:

the modern day application of it is unneeded at (many) times. admittedly, the new charger looks right with it

I don’t really see the issue. Also, it’s a pretty damn old concept:

Even then, the headlights are less skinny than the grille.

problem with this trend is that modern interactions call for yuge grilles and tiny tiny headlights

You cannot disconnect the headlights from the grille when the headlight IS the grille.

I think you’re complaining more about Sarah-Palin-Glasses headlights than grill connected headlights. Lots and lots of cars have their headlights connected to the grille.

Do away with both, modern cars need neither: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/finally-1793467781

Absolutely, I really don’t understand this trend and think it looks gross.

It’s more the skinny headlights integrated with grilles though, as pretty much everyone in the comments said, plenty of cars have had headlight-grilles and looked fantastic - it’s all about proportions here.

i don’t hate skinny headlights (for the most part) audi shows us they can integrate the design nicely, such as with the A4

It’s just ugly. Why split up the headlights in that way.

There are now four separate DRL units.

I agree. The other day, I saw the Chinese domestic model, and thought that those headlights were a local variation (like the BMW 3 Li and whatnot). Guess that that’s not the case!
