Im sure everyone who buys a jacked up supermini SUV here imagines this is what life will be like. “Im sat so high up, I can do anything!”

I’m not sure that is drivable on a road that’s not perfectly flat....No.

Extending must be rough on tires.

With how shitty the drivers are where I live, I’d be terrified to use this because it exposes three more side they could hit. The connection to the ground is just too risky. If it doesn’t fly, reducing my exposure to a single side, it really isn’t making my commute better/safer.

“A” for “Idea” and “Execution / Packaging”...and very high marks in the “ Likelihood You’ll Get Shot in the A$$ From the Car Below .”

The YouTube uploader insists that it’s real, but why does it look so fake?

I’ve never seen hydraulics move that smoothly. I don’t see anything that looks like steering linkage. For an allegedly “four tonne” vehicle, I’m seeing zero squat in the tires, and those tires don’t appear to have any flexing happening in the sidewalls while scraping sideways along the ground during the conversion.

Maybe those are heavy truck tires. Still wondering about that steering, though...

From the video, the only shots that look fake are the ones where it’s changing modes. And to your point below, I’d be willing to bet that it can’t steer, since the only shots of it moving when the hydraulics are exended are in a straight line.

Some of the pictures of the naked rig do look like the wheels might be turned (unless maybe the two axles are just not attached to each other yet in those pics?). I don’t see any linkage, so maybe there’s a big bearing with an electric motor at the bottom of the lift rams, and it’s steer-by-wire.

And then there’s the whole drivetrain issue that they would have had to deal with. No way all that stuff fits under the hood with the stock engine in place.

The more I look at it, the more real it appears. But you’re right, the transition is still suspiciously smooth. Maybe there’s a combination of real and practical effects at work here. I doubt that the Jeep has retained full functionality, though. I wish they’d show off a behind-the-scenes build video.
