On Sunday I managed to fix something that was broken from my friend’s car. It’s now installed and working. The yellowish part is the one that was damaged. The pipe had a rounded hex head that has been repaired by soldering a new hex head in place.

But what is the thing that I did fix? Hint: the car has four of these.

Nope. Not a brake part, but still slightly related.

Yes. It’s related to suspension, but what does it do?

It’s a Citroën part indeed, but its function is unique to one certain Citroën model.

Nope. A bit over two decades newer. The part’s design is not the unique thing, but the thing that it does is. Only one production Citroën model had this function.

It’s not a Xantia Activa, is it?

Very close. Kinda self leveling, but still even more special feature.

Exactly! It’s the valve that is connected to the rear active suspension mechanism.

Nice! I’d like to drive one someday. It’s a sister car to my daily driver (406 coupe), but I sadly have conventional suspension. I wish Citroën had made a Xantia coupe. Have you driven the Activa?

It seems that a working system keeps some residue pressure in all spheres. But of course some have lost their gas or their valves leak.

The car worked normally, but it was leaking LHM from the valve. The aluminum solenoid valve body had been corroded, and sealing o-ring had popped out.

The Activa cylinders that control body roll have a really bad tendency for leaks. Especially during the cold season.

I have driven with my friend’s Activa. Even couple of time during our club’s trackdays. It’s a really nice car and handles well.
