Kinja'd!!!

i’m losing my mind. These people will not negotiate with thier house. every day shit comes up and makes we want to tell these people to go F themselves. They need a new septic. the knew they were going to need a new septic. they have high ground water and thats not good for septic. they will most likely will need an above ground system which will need a pump. If we lose electricity then the system stops working. Then you need a backup power. I was told I shouldn’t even both asking for that. they want me to sign on to the house without even knowing for sure what type of system they will need.

I also have an exam this saturday for my liscence which I’m still trying to get. i’m sick of that S too.

I have a shitton of side work.

i wanna smash my head against a wall.

10/10 would stay away from funky septic. That shit gets expensive fast. A modern pressure dose system is in the $20-40k range installed depending on size and site conditions.

When we bought this house, we fought tooth and nail with the seller on some major issues. It was pretty heated and we had all but walked away at one point. We had a sewer that needed $5,000 in repairs that the seller basically told us to prove it or suck it. He denied anything was or is wrong. So we got an inspection with documentation of course. Then he said he wants visual evidence. Too bad I already paid for a video inspection in advance because I knew he was a wormy prick. And then after THAT he still refused to pay for it. Apparently his agent intervened and told him to just fix it and get rid of the house already. Guy was a millionaire and owned like 50 properties in this area that he never maintained, and he was gonna try to squeeze us for an extra $5k. Come on. This was on top of all the other things that this house needed, that he would of course deny.

I think these people, despite knowing they were goign to have to fix it, are pretty butthurt at having to spend the money. They are the original oweners so most likely have the house paid for (1960ish build) and i’m sure are selling it for far far far more than they ever could have paid for it.

A man I was related to by marriage was like that. I know he was worth somewhere between 2-3 million. When he bought dinner, he’d give you the stink eye if you ordered anything but water and one of the cheapest items. He died suddenly and his own kids didn’t seem to really care. He cared more about money than probably anything.

You’re buying a house?

I’m actually towards the end of the process myself (first time!) and we put an offer in for $10k less than the asking price. It was one of those things where the asking price wasn’t unreasonable , but at the same time, $10k less wasn’t unreasonable either. To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be accepted, but I did expect a $5k middle ground... the dude countered with $1k off the asking -_-
(And naturally Cheapskate McGee refused to use a realtor and is saving thousands of dollars that way - despite being clueless about the actual process)

haha its a pain in the ass, this is our second house, so we already had to go thru the process of selling, now we’re trying to buy. If this doesn’t work we lose the buyer for our house too.

Can you rent a condo for a little while or something? Because a house’s absolute best day, unless you do a lot to it later, is the day you make your first offer. After that everything is downhill, not in a good way.

For the sellers, the first offer is usually their best offer so if you walk while telling these yayhoos to stuff it, they’ll almost certainly get to live with eventually selling for less. Also knowing that someone refused to take their crap and their sale evaporated. If area inventory is tight, it sounds like they’re taking that into account and yanking your chain and if they see you sit there and take it, stand by for more yanks since it’s a process not an event.

In case it doesn’t show, this has me Bogarting in and being indignant on your behalf lol. I’ll show myself out now...

I say this, honestly. I mean, hell, the market has recovered, but not THAT much. There’s no reason to pull this crap. At least tell them (by them I mean their realtor) that the house needs to be livable to sell, and you’re willing to walk away and make sure that the condition of the house is reported. Not sure if you can do that at the MLS, but the realtor network is tight, and they all have their reputations to uphold.

That, or we can just burn their lives to a smoldering pile of ash so they have to accept whatever offer you make, just like that one scene in the first Transformers movie when he went to buy the car. I know some people.

the logistics of renting a condo with 3 kids would make me lose my mind. WE were their first offer, another came in over the weekend but they are still talking with us so it couldn’t have been better. The house at this point has been up for like 7 weeks so i dont what they are thinking at this point
