So I am going to put this here and ask for your opinions even though I am probably going to go for the rarest option or get frustrated with my indecisiveness and do nothing...
Being that I now live away from a big city, and no longer have to duck ignorant tourists, I want to get back to riding. That being said, of the 2 bikes I currently own, one tries to kill me every time I ride it, so its getting sold, and the other is currently in as many pieces as possible in multiple boxes...
So I want something new and reliable. I am trying to keep cost down(ish) because I am saving up for (not sure, but new car toy, but not toy car). I will be getting rid of my hard tail bobber, so I kind of want something classic-ish, but I also miss my sport bike.
My options:
- Triumph Bonneville Bobber
about $13k out the door, totally awesome, Im just not taken by any of the color options.
- MV Agusta Brutale Dragster 800 RR
I’ve wanted this bike since it came out, but finding a white one is way difficult and I will have to travel, likely far, to get one. Also probably about $18k out the door
-Triumph Street Cup
Cafe style, lots of customizable options, essentially its the old Thruxton, 900cc motor, but with a 270 degree crank. They still make the Thruxton, but its now a 1200cc motor. somewhere between 11 and 12 k out the door.
- BMW R Nine T Racer
I always wanted the old r90, loved the horizontal engine, plus, cafe style and the paint scheme is great. 18k out the door so a bit pricey
- MV Agusta F3 800RC
I mean...
Also the AMG race Livery would look seks next to my AMG. But... its the most expensive as well, probably 20ish out the door if I can find the right dealer.

If it must be one of those, Bonne bobber. I’d avoid the exotics unless you like waiting on parts.

Not the MVs. As achingly gorgeous as they are, you will never have it running right, and parts will take months to get.
I’d skip the R9t racer, because they want a ‘cafe racer’... Yet they put shittier forks on it compared to the normal R9t??? What? I’d get a regular R9t and put a fairing on it rather then buy that
Street cup: why not a actual thruxton? The thruxton is always cool, I kinda want a thruxton r....mmmm...olhins. Brembos. Delish. Cup seems eh.
Bonnie: cool, but not really intresting. If you are looking at the other bikes, it is by far and away the worst preforming

Get a Street Twin.
- $9,000 base
- Still cool as fuck
- More comfortable than a cafe racer, but probably handles just as well
- Still has the badass 10k mile service intervals (includes oil)
and if you want wire wheels and a tach, you can always get the Bonneville T100 for $1,400 more.

Well, I am not overly concerned abut parts time frames, but what running issues do the MVs have?
Admittedly I haven’t done much research into the R9T. I went to BMWs site to look at the S1000RR and happened across the racer and well...
I love the Thruxton. but I am shying a bit away from the cafe bikes as I am building one currently, and don’t really want 2 cafe bikes. The only reason the cup made the list is because its cheap
and the bobber, yeah... but its cool.

I’ll just throw this one into the mix since it seems to fit with the others:
Moto Guzzi V7 Racer.
And, for a reliable and affordable option:
the all-new Honda Rebel 500 bobber.
Think about all the gear and beer you could buy with the monies you’ll save. (btw, that might be a pic of a custom Rebel 500, but not sure)

they break. they are fragile. the are the ducati for the guy who thinks ducatis are too main stream.
I know a lady who has a 800RR and comes with it to the once-a month moto socials. she doesnt ride it other wise, takes her aprilia. Shes afriad if she rides it too much, something will break and it will be sidelined for 6 months.

Yeah, I had a cafe racer phase too. He’s gonna get a rude awakening the morning he gets on his bike and hates how it looks and feels.
At least, when you hate how these bikes look, it’s still comfy as hell.
