A surprising turnout for our organised group drive saw more than 20 cars with decent variety from an 80s Corolla GT-S to a 360 Challenge Stradale. Way too many 991 Porsches, but that’s really a testament to how good they are.
I drove behind a relatively large but hot-looking AMG GT S for most of the time.
We started at Alice’s Restaurant, a popular car club gathering spot in the mountains with its own gas station, and went out to the coast at Pescadero. Roads were decent with just a bit of continuing runoff from California’s unusually wet winter.

Man, that was one of my favorite drives when I lived in Palo Alto. Pescadero is a great little town to stop at before swinging around too.
Any other Oppos joined? I momentarily tried to get a group of oppo posters linked up in real life but that was short lived...marriage, job changes, and ultimately a move out of the Bay got in the way.

It’s okay, the same thing happened to me with an F-type the other day. Although I suppose your exhaust isn’t loud because a section of your midpipe decided to let go.

Thanks for the writeup! My favorite driving roads that I regularly frequent (and a little coffee stop in Pescadero).
That stickered 370Z is a friend of mine, just ran Laguna Seca with him. Also, the AMG GTS is a fantastic looking car and better than the 991.1/991.2 if you ask me.

Once I’m finished working on my summer setup, I’ll also have the “exhaust is loud because of the car it’s attached to.” The difference is that your car is like smoothly sipping Courvoisier XO at a discreet jazz club, whereas my car is like pounding back two shots of Fireball and then attempting a keg stand in some dude’s basement because his mom is out of town.

The whole idea of a truly sporty Benzo (as opposed to the fire-breathing tanks that the AMGs have always been) escapes me, but I will have to try one of these someday.
Watching Kevin negotiate the dirt lot was rather entertaining.

Agreed, their has been an ethos shift but the card sounds and looks spectacular. I know I would get a 911 for the price due to MT, but competition is good!
I know that lot well, haven’t been since the heavy rains wonder if it opened up any more giant holes.

i grew up in redwood city and lived there most of my life, moving back currently to a place just off edgewood rd!
When i was younger, and gas was cheap, i used to take my car out late nights and just drive up to alice’s WAY before initial D made every kid want to drive up that road.
before my RL got totalled, i used to take it up there and it would trip out some of the ricer kids. I had one STI spin out in front of me, heard him tell his buddy he wasnt expecting me to follow so close because my car was a boat and he felt pressured.I was a full RL/ls400 car length behind him!
Another time, this m3 was tailing me, i had 2 cars, a motorcycle and a box truck in front of me. I pulled the lead vehicle pulled over, and little by little, each vehicle that became the lead, did the same fairly quickly. Once i was able, i also did the same, but the bimmer (probably a 335 with a kit and m3 badges) that was following me slowly passed me and gave me the middle finger through his sunroof. Shocked, i asked my 4 friends who were with me “did he just...?” and before i could finish my sentence they all yelled “GET EEM!!!”. So i chased him and pressured him up 84, I was hanging right on his rear bumper till we got to Alice’s, he turn left to head south on skyline-35, he waited for me to turn and started to follow me, but he couldnt keep up after the first 2 turns...

This was on Sunday (2 days ago). Traffic was a limiting factor on much of the drive, but regardless, we did not intend to even approach the limits of our cars.
Just a jolly drive with a few naughty moments when the road opened up straight enough.
