I’ll go out and play pretty much any sport, but the only one I’m interested in watching is Hockey. Anything else I’ll just check the scores.
An odd one (for me) is baseball. I don’t really give a damn about it, it’s way too slow for my liking. Can make a decent drinking game if you’re actually playing because you get to whack things with a piece of wood and who doesn’t like that? But to me... there’s not really anything to watch. But due to that slow pace it’s easy to follow without watching anyways... I sometimes just put up the MLB livetracker and do something else at the same time.

Sports I like to play are Football (American), Golf and Basketball. The sports I like to watch in person are Football (American), Basketball, Hockey. The sport I like to watch on TV is Golf. Baseball is literally the worst pro sport ever.

Golf falls into the same category as Baseball to me. Super boring to watch, but you get to hit stuff and you can follow it without really paying attention. In person it too becomes a drinking game.

At least on TV they can cut to all the impressive shots at once. In person you’re either stuck somewhere or following someone. As far as playing it, it’s probably the only sport I’m actually good at.

My neighbor played (football) for Alabama, so I can see how his family and friends would be really into it. I just can’t account for the millions of other people who don’t know anyone on a sports team (and vice-versa), who don’t live in a particular city, or never even went to a particular school. This is verboten where I live in the heart of college football land. I just have to know enough to make small talk, but not so much my brain fills up with uselessness.

I work in a college town (ASU) fortunately people here have enough common sense to not get sucked into sports where your time is consumed and hopes and dreams are crushed.

Just hope ASU doesn’t win a national championship anytime soon. The fairweather fans will come out of the woodwork. BTW, Mike Birbiglia’s new Netflix special is amazing. Just saw it the other day, might be his best single show/CD I’ve seen.

Oh good then it’s not just me. The vast majority of college sports fans I know never attended the institution of which they are a fan, nor did anyone in their family.
I myself enjoy New England Patriots football ‘Merican style, and FC Barcelona football Yurrup style. Playing golf is fun too, but I’m terrible at it.

I don’t get college sports at all. Did you go to the school? No? Then why do you care? I understand your home states / cities main team (Lets Go Red Wings!), but at the same time, its just for fun. Something to enjoy and watch, but not get sooooo obsessed with it.
