This is brilliant.....also probably illegal, but hey, if it’s on an abandoned stretch of line, it’s not that unsafe! :)

It is illegal, even on an abandoned line, as that is considered trespassing. But I know people that do it anyway, including the father of a girl I was friends with way back in elementary school. He’s a major partner in a large law firm, yet was written up in an interview about going out on railroad tracks Most people I know that do that have a sail for propulsion, and usually something light that can be moved off the tracks in a hurry in case a train comes along unexpectedly. Generally something about like a soapbox derby car with a sail.

Old rail equipment is awesome.

I figured it was illegal, but if the line’s not been used in years, I can’t see the harm in it. I remember seeing a neat video of a group of folks with a small lawn-mower powered cart similar to the ones you mention somewhere in the south-western US riding along abandoned tracks...was a neat vid :)

Problem is people aren’t always good at determining which lines are abandoned as opposed to just infrequently used. The rails on this one are rusty enough that it’s entirely believable that it’s not used. At least in the US I’d expect an actually abandoned line to be more overgrown than that, though it’s quite possible that things don’t get overgrown as quickly in Poland.
