Ok for a couple years now I have have this as my commuter car. People think I drive with my brights on and will get out of my way and then pull back behind me and flash their brights in a rage. It’s the height of the lights. My low beams are by no means an Audi Q7 burning your eyes out. Just something I experience, anyone get this in any vehicle? I had a drunk guy in a 911 pull up beside me one night and do nuts yelling at me, since we were at a stop I demonstrated that I could switch them to high and that I was not driving with them. Well he was drunk, but a guy just pulled off and then pulled in behind me and flashed me non stop until he turned. I am actually totally against all these new lights, the shit that comes on these Geeeeerman cars is insane and it’s way too much for around town. Rant over....

My lady has a ‘10 Element, and it has the same issue, the lights are very bright. People always flash their lights coming opposite way when I’m dimmed. I live in the suburbs though, so i dont frequently use the brights.

Never had anyone do the lunatic shit you described!

Yeah that guy was a drunk fuck. He slurred, “I am affiliated with the sheriff’s dept...” I should have just called it in but I left when my light turned. I was in my turning lane to go up the hill I live on. He just pulled next to me and stopped to chat. I have to be a good citizen now, so I left.

Never had that issue with our newer X3, despite a tall ride hight and very bright HIDs. The two new cars that I always find blinding even on normal beam are the Escalade and the MDX.

I’ve never had that problem and my family had a 2002 and now a 2016.

I get this with the promaster typically oncoming traffic. I let a flash or 2 go but if they push it I give them a blast of the high beams and they are blinding as hell. I keep cool as much as I can ever since I hit one guy with them and he served into the rumble strip. I think it really stunned him.

Never had anyone complain to me about my 2005 LX. Then again, I just get the cheapest bulbs when they burn out.

Wise move probably. I usually try to avoid fucking with people near the house on the off chance they might be a vindictive psycho, lol

Have you checked if your headlights are aimed correctly? When they’re aimed too high even the low beams can be blinding.

You need to aim your headlights properly. Even if the CRV did have high headlights, they shouldn’t be pointed in other driver’s eyes. Look up how to aim your lights. Brightness won’t matter if they’re adjusted properly.

If you tailgate it puts your lights right in someone’s mirror

it wouldn’t hurt to check the aim of the headlights. there’s usually an adjustment knob you can get to to lower them a bit if needed check on YouTube for tutorials for your make and model..or the user manual :)

I actually want to lower my bright HID headlights on my G35 but it requires some disassembly. I’m going to replace both headlight bulbs in the next few days anyway so it’ll give me an excuse.

edit: this guy is a car lighting geek. Lots of good info . https://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html

I was just at Honda for an oil change/service/2nd airbag recall replacement and they guy said they are ok and that he has a CRV and has had the same reaction. I don’t think I can aim them. I have replaced bulbs and they just go in a housing, I don’t see any way to alter the housing, the bulb goes in a socket and then in a rubber bit that holds it in place in the housing. My old Mercedes has screws you can turn to move the housing. I could just get the shittiest bulbs I can, pretty sure my replacements are better than those.

There are two up and downs, I guess no L/R but I can try it against a wall near me. It’s hidden in the same housing as another bolt, out the side of it.
