Yeah, these MicroSD things are getting a bit absurd:

Kinja'd!!!

That’s more than 1000 times as much storage as my first hard drive in a package the size of a thumbnail. Also:

The first hard disk I ever purchased was 340 mb, $300.

It’s weird to think five years ago they were still toying with the thought of this and the proposed price was around $300. It’s even weirder to think how I’ve embraced the cloud so much since then.

I’ll guess based on some of the data on the sticker, 1994?

Hold up! How does 90 MB + 4gb equal 8.6 gigs used?

But. But. But. (Read in thick american cowboyish I guess accent) “There’s no replacement for displacement!” This should mean that the hard drive should have moar space because it’s bigger. WHY DO FALSE STATEMENTS MAKE INCORRECT RESULTS?!?!?

My first computer had 128KB of memory.

The IBM PCjr. 64KB on the board with an extra 64KB expansion card.

I also had an acoustic coupler modem.

I’m not kidding.

This is a very good question. Something is definitely off with those numbers, given that Google Play Music and Audible by themselves are supposed to be taking up more than 10GB on the SD card. Luckily, I don’t see myself running out of space anytime soon, regardless of the shoddy record keeping.

The first HD I ever owned was 20 MB. It was a hand-me-down and it was 2 grand when it was new.

I got my first computer in December 1992...it had a 170mb hard drive. Everyone I told was amazed...”you’ll never run out of storage!”

A year and a half later, I was out of storage.

Some of it was better, like pressing the degauss button on your CRT monitor

I forgot how much I missed this until I read this.

I worked in a computer lab and school and I loved opening and degaussing all the monitors as quickly as possible.

How is this better than huge IPS LCDs that just work?

The only complaint I have about modern computers is that the aspect ratio of monitors sucks now. 4:3 was better, especially when you rotated your monitor vertically. Only really large high-res monitors are now suitable for being rotated vertically, which sucks for programmers.
