The Surface Studio will never work as a mainstream device. It does make a good case as a device for content creators though.

If they built lower spec versions, and offered the option to drop the pressure-sensitive capabilities for a simple capacitive multi-touch and if the high-spec versions had more up to date CPU and GPU options, they could easily blow Apple hardware away completely.

Though they’ll have to work on making Windows 10 something other than garbage, first.

Really, though, its main competitor, the Wacom Cintiq 27 costs nearly as much for just a 27" 2560x1440 LCD and a touch+pen digitizer, no computer attached.
