Kinja'd!!!

I’m contemplating an EV and there are some sweet deals on there for shorter term leases with low payments.

I ’ ve seriously considered it several times, in fact may do so later this year as I ’ m in a quandary about what to get since Alfa is not offering the Gullia in a manual, I ’ m hoping they will offer it in the next couple years.

The biggest negative I know of, is know the condition of the car. They may be trying to unload it to avoid fee ’ s for damages. Have it inspected, and pull a report on it just like you are buying it. In fact possibly more so as you could be taking on costs for damage you did not do on something you do not own and may not want to own in the end. I know taking on someone else ’ s lease is not a big deal, so long as the lease holder allows it and you meet their requirements. I seem to find more interesting cars on swapalease.com than I do on leasetrader.com. I would mostly say ask questions. What is the buy out price? I ’ ve noticed this value seems to very depending upon what time of year you take on the lease. or more likely, when the lease expires. Ask about limitations on taking over the lease, I have seen some that will not allow out of state, or anyone below a certain creditscore. Know how much mileage you will likely drive, and make sure the lease has enough miles left to cover your driving and then some. I saw one lease that was already over the mileage limit, and the person was offering to pay you for the fees for the overage plus to cover some of the additional mileage fees you might incure. Red flags to me, this guy did not know what he signed when he signed it and does not want to turn it in and pay even more.
