First post from my new phone! After being on Windows Phone since 2012, this is an adjustment. What are the must-have apps? What do I need to know to get a better experience? Its been seven years since my last android, running 2.3 so obviously things have changed a bit...

That’s a big step up.

It’s like upgrading from a Ford Pinto to a Ford Focus!

I just upgraded from my ancient Samsung flip-phone (the ribbon cable connecting the antenna to the phone guts in the hinge decided to fray, so constant “No Service”...) to a new-to-me Android 4.4.2 Samsung Galaxy Core LTE.

Not amazing, but vastly nicer than my old phone and still current enough to run most of the newer apps.

I want to purchase one of those Bluetooth OBDII connectors and pick up the torque app as well. :)

Google Play Rewards. Sends you surveys occasionally to give you free money for apps.

Tasker. VERY powerful automation tool, I use it to put my phone in silent, control screen rotation when in my car and via the phone slider

Drivemode. Gesture based car mode screen, you don’t have to look at your phone to control music, use navigation or reply to text/WhatsApp.

Waze. I find it better to use in a car than Google Maps. And you can occasionally get celebrity voices like a short while back you can get May, Clarkson and Hammond as the navigation voice. I have the backup but my phone can’t be rooted so I can’t swap them back in.
