Mexican tags as expected. Still don’t get to see many of these up close even though I’m not too far from the border.

As soon as I realized it was you who posted this I was just waiting for the Mexican plates.

Kinja'd!!!

Think I would rather have this Mexican plated car to be honest thought.

Why yes I would love a Turbo diesel i5 ford ranger from Thailand by the way of Mexico

I understand the sentiment, but I’m not really sure I agree. I’ve seen quite few on the road here and they are a pretty awkward size/shape and the build quality seems rough. I’d rather Ford just put an I6 diesel in the F-150 and also offered an actual small truck. But a diesel F150 will never happen with all the eggs in the EcoBoost basket.

To add on to that, the one Mexican-played pickup that I’ve seen in the road that I do have a huge want for some irrational reason is the Mitsubishi Triton. For some reason they do it for me in a way the Ranger doesn’t even though they are similar. Something about the Mistu seems just like a more honest work vehicle.

It looks like the perfect hatchback.

Right? It’s exactly the thing automakers refuse to give us in the States anymore.

IIRC, there are now no new 3-door hatchbacks sold in the US. Not even a Yaris or the Golf.

Mini Cooper! Ok you got me. I was actually thinking about this already tonight. The Golf, Yaris, and Accent are all dead. Does the CR-Z count? Does it matter? It’s almost dead anyway.

I don’t think it counts. It’s a 2-person liftback thing...?

Things that should be liftbacks but aren’t:

- 4-series coupe
- Accord coupe
- A5/S5
- NO

Civic coupe too. Yeah it’s weird the styling on all of those look like they should be liftbacks. Recent one people forget - the Scion tC is a liftback.

Ooh what about - 2-door Evoque? Yes it is a thing you can still buy new although I’ve never seen one not at a dealer.

Based off my local Toyota dealers 1 Yaris in inventory, the 3-door still seems to be alive, though I’m sure not for long..

Here’s what still exists in a 2-door (as in, two doors for occupants to enter through) configuration with a back seat and lifting rear glass (whether it’s vertical or not) for model year 2017, as far as I’m aware. No particular order.

Vertical glass (hatchbacks):

Toyota Yaris

Mini Hardtop

Fiat 500

Liftbacks:

Volkswagen Beetle

Audi TT

Half points, because it has more than 2 doors, but less than 4:

Hyundai Veloster (it’s a 3-door configuration, plus a liftback in a hatchback silhouette)
