Kinja'd!!!

A year ago this week, my 2000 Chevy Blazer took a massive, stinking shit in my friend’s driveway. To replace it, I somehow convinced my parents that a 10-year-old German hot hatch would be the perfect car to see me off into college.

The car currently sits at just over 170,000 miles, of which I am responsible for about 20,000. Despite the mileage and sketchy purchase story (which will be told soon. It involves a rooster,) the GTI has only missed a few beats over my year of ownership.

I have allegedly had a lot of fun behind the wheel of this Volkswagen, and are plenty more good times to come. I’m going to a more comprehensive article about the car soon but until then, what do you want to know about the car/my experience with it?

Do you have any interior pics, it would be nice to see the differences between a US Spec one and my UK spec one. Wheels are the most obvious to me, mine are 17" Monza painted grey, these in 17 or 18" were the only options for the GTI here whereas your wheels were for the GT.

My MKV has 145K miles on it now... and damn it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned....

I love that blue. If a color change wouldn’t cost more than the car is worth I would be very tempted.

I’ve only seen 3 or 4 in Shadow blue since I got mine nearly 2 years ago. It’s good to see yours is fine at 170k miles, I was worried when mine rolled over 100k a couple of months ago. The only major difference in the interior (apart from the steering wheel being on the opposite side) is the seats, same tartan pattern but the seats different bolstering and headrests. It’s too dark now to take a pic (9pm) but mine look like these.

My MK4 Jetta (same thing basically) rolled over 200k not too long ago. Best car I’ve ever owned too.
