Yeah, I know. Nobody here really cares about the cruze. But hear me out.

The dyno charts they released show some pretty crazy gains. If you run the math to convert from wheel to crank HP assuming an 20%(edited cuz im an effing moron) driveline loss (Their before dyno graph lines up with that) for the automatic, you go from 153hp/177tq crank to 220/260. I dunno about you guys but this sounds extremely troll-worthy. Who would ever expect a tuned cruze at a dragstrip?

For those curious, here’s the link:

80% loss? Are you running monster truck tires?

Any system that has an 80% drivetrain loss has a team of engineers who were destined to be English majors.....

Turbo Cruze can be badass.

Kinja ate your link. Anyway, I care about the Cruze. I need to drive a ‘16+ still, but the previous gen was my favorite in class. I still don’t understand all the love the Mazda3 gets. I’d take the Cruze’s ride/handling balance any day. A more powerful Cruze can only be a good thing. That being said, most of these little turbos tune up pretty well. There are similar chip tunes out there for the Dart and Jetta.

Truth but still 153 crank is what it’s rated at and they got 125 wheel.

Have you driven a skyactiv mazda3? I have one. The interior is nice and the interior styling and ride+handling is very german(more bmw than vw). Its very fun. But yeah a tuned cruze would be a highway missile.

I think you meant 20% drivetrain loss or 80% drivetrain efficiency.

No, 30.6 wheel hp is an 80% loss. 125 out of 153 is about an 18% loss.

That isn’t 80% loss

Just caught the mistake. I meant 20% loss. I’m an idiot.

I drove a 2015. My only reaction was meh. It was a 2.0 - I’m sure the 2.5 helps, but I didn’t think the handling or ride were that special. I like the layout of the interior, but fit and finish were garbage and everything was falling apart at 25k. Overall, it felt like a cheap interpretation of a Golf. I’d take the Golf seven days a week, especially considering that the prices aren’t all that different. I like that the (previous gen) Cruze is a bit softer, but doesn’t have totally dead handling and the interior seems much higher quality than the Mazda.

Man I don’t get how yours was in poor shape. My car has 60k miles and the interior is still mint and solid!

Do you know of any places that will have this tuning service in Socal?
