On these GM 3400 engines the alternator is on top rear of the engine bay. You have to remove the motor mounts to drop the motor enough to get it out. I did it on my BIL van so I wasn’t pulling my hair out this time. I also bought new motor mounts a while back because when I did the serpentine belt the one was oozing. While I wait until Sunday when new one arrives I’m going to enjoy my anniversary or what’s left. 7 year and counting.
See you tomorrow maybe. Posting from tablet so photos are wonky.

Jeez, I just replaced the turbo in my pathfinder and was whining because it’s underneath the car and I don’t have a lift. This looks way worse. Good luck—

I changed the one in our Montana... it wasn’t that bad. But I don’t recall having to remove mounts. Try a mid-2000's Grand Caravan. Got to work from underneath with very minimal clearance.

Exactly why I never want to own a transverse engine again. Normal wear items shouldnt require engine removal/unbolting to replace in a non mid-engined car. (Belts, accessories, etc)

Transverse engines suck. I get the need, but I’m so glad I don’t own a car with one any more. The last straw for me was trying to change the rear spark plugs on a Hyundai Delta V6.
