I think I might sell my GTO here and buy a bike. The money I don’t spend a month on my car payment would be greatly appreciated and needed. Plus it is summer so maybe I can finish my Sprite project and have a car for winter... Idk.

I want a 2010 Triumph Speed Triple. Which I can easily afford with the difference between my car’s worth and what I owe on the loan still. I just can’t afford to keep stretching myself like this and maybe I need to learn that giving up my goat is the only way to move on with life.

What are your thoughts? I mean wouldn’t be too bad a garage

Thanks for any input.

Single swing arm. Yes.

I’ve always had it for the Speed Triple. If bikes were my thing that’s what I’d get. Or a Street Triple R, cause +1000cc’s might be much to start with.

Riding experience? I always get confused with motorbike people who aren’t Peter.

If yes, then yes, awesome bike.

The 2010 is a 1050cc. It definitely isn’t my first bike, but would be the most bike.

Also great gif usage.

Kinja'd!!!

The triples are beautiful bikes. That said if you’re just looking for a naked bike you could join the rest of us in the cult of the SV. Gonna end up being cheaper to maintain own and insure.

Yeah, I have been on and off bikes since I was a kid.

Then go for it, it’s a great all around street bike. Noticeably heavier than the street triple, but also noticeably more torque.

Also...

Mandatory recommendation to get a GSXR fork swapped SV650 instead :p

Yeah the SV is a neat bike, but... IDK. The Speed Triple is THE bike I want and in black.

Why?

It’s the Miata of the motorcycling world... always the answer.

It all depends what you are looking for, but for me it fits the need perfectly. Fast enough, cheap enough, light enough, comfortable enough, reliable enough, etc. I’ve had a lot of bikes, but it’s the one that sticks around while the rest of the collection is constantly in flux.

Cult of the SV, I like that.

Slightly more PC than “Glorious sv650 master race”

So you would also suggest the SV? I meant why the fork swap?

The fork swap brings suspension and braking up to a level that rivals the midsize euro nakeds. My biggest complaints about the SV was the lack of any feel through the front brakes, the amount of dive under braking, and the lack of front end damping. Throwing on mid 2000s GSXR forks and brakes gives full adjustability and much better components. I see the SV650 as a great motor and chassis with budget everything else, swapping front end and the rear shock makes it a nearly perfect bike (for me)

As for the SV itself, it’s got 70hp at the wheel (under rated from the factory), weighs under 400lb, and the motors commonly go more than 100K miles. That’s while returning 40+mpg most of the time.

throwing in ANOTHER recommendation for a fork swapped SV

I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but it in terms of price, usability, reliability, cost (both upfront AND maintenance AND running costs) there really isnt much out there that can touch it.

The stock suspension sucks donkey balls, but the GSX-R forks are a literal bolt on upgrade (unbolt stock triple tree and take out old forks, bolt in new set...literally). the first gens need a special bearing for the top, but its pretty easy to find.

Oh I meant for me. Ive never riden a motorcycle before, I dont think I will either, but if I did...I would go for those bikes. Love, love streetfighter bikes.

Oh yeah 1000cc is definitely too much to start with. I agree the street fighter look is awesome!
