I mean, I like Guinness, but I got to thinking and now I’m wondering.
And here’s an Irish race car.

If you’re sticking with stouts, Murphy’s or Beamish is your way to go. St. James’ Gate Brewery (where Guinness is brewed) also brew a red ale called Smithwick’s and Harp, a lager.

More than there have been in recent years due to encouragement of craft brewing.
It had been reduced to Guinness, Murphy’s, Smithwicks and not much else.

If you’re a foreigner.
We call it Smithwicks but that’s deemed too hard for foreigners to pronounce.

Not helpful but I just learned this.
George Killian’s Irish Red : Premium Lager is a 5.4% abv amber lager brewed by Coors. The brand name was purchased only for sale in the North-American market by Coors from the Pelforth Brewery (Heineken France), who had previously bought it from Lett’s Brewery in Ireland , which had closed in 1956.
It was irish so close enough for me.

The Kilkenny sold overseas is now a Guinness product, not Smithwicks
