It’s great because the way the law works is that it doesn’t care where you’re from, as long as you’re within the law’s jurisdiction then the laws apply. That’s why tourists and non-citizens can’t just break laws all willy nilly.
Free citizens are a special kind of crazy.

I don’t think they’re crazy per se. But I’ve encountered any number of people who latch on to some silly thing- be it as mundane as painting the edges of their CDs green- which lets them think they’ve “outsmarted” the system somehow. IMO it’s derived from arrogance.

Yeah, these particular ones caught wind of the secret account the government has for every person based upon their social security number that you can unleash with UCC forms. So not necessarily dumb or crazy but also greedy.

It’s a pretty broad term that includes a bunch of people who don’t believe in certain rules of law, or that believe that the UCC controls over other laws, or who believe that the u.s. Government borrows against people and that you can have access to the money through secret processes.
It’s not a cohesive group. Many of their tenants spread in prison. It’s mostly meant to undermine the government. Their arguments never work in court. They are also called sovereign citizens.

The theory is somehow linked up to when the u.s. left the gold standard. The general theory is, I think, that for every dollar the u.s. borrows there is a person that it is assigned to; and through some sort of secret process, you can reclaim the money because you didn’t authorize the u.s. to borrow that money on your behalf. Some people have bought things with promissory notes and UCC forms, only to later get arrested.

I work in place where people come to get legal information; most of the time it’s “how do I sue someone” or “how do I get stuff back” but sometimes it’s “can you show me public law 42-122(might be wrong number) when the u.s. government abandoned the gold standard and currency became a false notion.”
And I’m nice so I say - “I can help you find that public law, yes.”

We have a similar movement that is spreading in Germany. They call themselves “Reichsbürger” citizens of the Reich. A pretty diverse group that thinks that the current government has no authority. Their reasoning is that there never was an official peace treaty between Germany/Third Reich and the Allied Powers. Therefore this “so-called” Federal Republic is still occupied, and the “so-called” government just a puppet of.... , therefore making government officials puppets wearing a trademark that doesn’t have to be respected. In their reasoning the German Republic is just an American (or whatever) corporation. They print out their own documents from the internet, refuse to pay taxes etc... And of course non of them are just plain and simple citizens, their are all part of some alternative government, or a prince/king... There are lots of funny videos on Y/T of them getting pulled over and so on.
It was all fun and games until they started shooting police officers.
