Kinja'd!!!

Been having issues with my s7. It’s ten months old and wouldn’t hold a charge. I sent it for repair and they said the USB port is damaged and it isnt covered by warranty. Ridiculous. The USB port 100% failed due to their poor quality as I never did anything beyond normal plugging the charger into it. I wasnt rough with it at all. The quote is over £200.

My gf had similar issues with her s4, I shouldve known better.

I bet you can fix it yourself with a soldering iron. It’s not like a chip failed.

This is stupid...ironically, I bet one of those aftermarket/extended warranties would have covered it. I don’t want to get on a Apple soapbox because they confound me and I don’t have the first clue about Photostreams, iCloud, Airdrop, Dropbox, Airbox, Boxbox, or any of their other ancillary services. But the phones just work, and on more than one occasion I’ve had one replaced, no questions asked.

I had a battery inflate and break the display on my s4. CS was less than useless. They probably should’ve taken their battery issue more seriously in hindsight.

I had an S3 for years before i got my current iPhone. The only issue it gave me was the power button would act up from time to time. I mainly switched to iPhone simply to see what it was like as I’d always been with Android, but I like it.

I miss my Note 7, best phone ever (other than the fire risk thingy).

On an S7 now, not as wowed, the USB port does look kind a little odd as i am gentle with my things, but I won’t have it forever anyway.

I’ve honestly been spending some brain power on whether or not I can just get by without a cell phone of any type. They’re all garbage, made haphazardly to leverage the market for ‘new’ and ‘shiny’ with almost no value 6 months after purchase.

I hate them all and want to walk away. I set my phone to silent on Tuesday, and only check it a couple times a day. So far, I’ve missed essentially nothing. Next week I may try to go the whole week without checking.

I have an iPhone and I don’t use any of that shit, well I have iCloud I just dont actually use it. When you set it up you can choose not to do it. I’ve been thinking about switching to android because I hate having to use itunes to load music onto my phone. But I keep hearing about issues people have with androids.

Man, Samsung has been getting hit lately - you’d think they’d go above and beyond to improve their image. Right now, I’d never even consider one of their phones, just because of their negligence in design and self-immolating feature. I’ve also heard nothing but bad experiences about their appliances - my realtor went so far as to say at one house with new Samsung appliances, “you’ll have to replace all of these soon because they’re Samsung and won’t last five years.”

With that kind of feedback from two product lines, I can’t say I’d consider their TVs anymore either.

But Windows mobile is close to death and Apple stuff is Apple stuff. What’s left?

Nothing inherently wrong about Android by the way, some manufacturers simply misuse their inflated market share by peddling products with subpar quality for the price. I’d include Apple to those manufacturers by the way.
I bought a Samsung once and haven’t repeated that mistake again. I have bought and used multiple other phones by other manufacturers though, and except for the iphone 4 all of those were close to flawless for the first few years.

I have NEVER been satisfied with the build quality of android phones. I guess like Kia, they are feature packed and look nice on the outside but once you are past the surface the problems are there. Ms. Mercedes just made a post about how her 4 month old Nexus 6P shit the bed, that shit is unacceptable. The only Android phone I would even consider is a Pixel which, surprise suprise, is an iPhone in Google clothing.

Samsung, full of half baked ideas and forgotten products. Remember when their phones had a feature that would follow your eyes then pause videos if you looked away? Not even Samsung remembers.

I’ve never had AppleCare or phone insurance - one was replaced within 6 months, another at the 13-month mark just as a sign of good faith. It was shocking...I’m also an Apple shareholder, so I’m not sure I love the idea of them just handing phones out to everyone like that.

I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. My former employer had me use an iphone for a while and it felt like a My First Sony toy to me and I literally laughed out loud when I found out how much it had cost. I found it very frustrating to use. It looked nice though (it should for the absurd price), but was rather fragile. It just wasn’t for me, to put it mildly. I realize not everyone shares my opinion.

Work provides me with my phone so I can’t really complain but I’ve went though 6 Samsung s5 actives in a little over a year. One I dropped ( my bad) 4 were charging port related and one was an instant return because the warranty replacement they sent me was rooted and that’s a no no with some of my company’ssoftware we use. To be completely fair I’m what I’d call a extremely heavy user and basically have to keep it on a charger at all times as I never know what my next job will entail. Long story short micro usb is shit. Phones should really move away from it.

Kinja'd!!! "Rico" (ricorich)
03/17/2017 at 14:28, STARS: 0

Of course, everyone likes what they like. Some like PC some like Mac. Some like sushi some people hate it. Some people want to solder their usb ports back onto their phones motherboard and some don’t. Some people want to spend time flashing custom roms and others just want a phone that works.

When I had an Android phone that was all the rage and I had so much free time on my hands I would flash Rom after Rom from XDA, trying to tweak it and mess with it. Didn’t matter that on this rom the camera didn’t work or on that rom bluetooth didn’t work, it was just fun to see all the changes I could make. Now, I just need something that works great out the box without much tweaking and I know everytime I unlock it it will work as expected.
