Saint Martin might be the only place in the world you can see a Camaro and a Dacia Logan together

Hey Oppo, I’m back from my honeymoon! I’ll do a whole “cars of St. Martin” photo dump later, but it is definitely an interesting car market. Here are a couple cars parked down the street from my Airbnb, the white building with blue roof in the background.

Fun fact: the Dutch and French sides of the island each have their own license plates. The Camaro has Dutch St. Maarten plates and the Logan has French St. Martin plates. This picture is in Grand Case, a town on the French side.

I’m pretty sure the Camaro is sold in Europe.

That is a pretty interesting combo to see, any idea where else they sell the camaro? I feel like this is something you could see randomly in Russia.

I wouldn’t mind retiring early to the Caribbean. The British Virgin Islands most probably.

I hope you had a good time and enjoyed yourselves.

Reminds me of something I glanced out of the corner of my eye this morning: a 1st gen camaro with a corvair front end. No...I don’t have pictures or any reason why someone would do that

The Camaro’s actually sold pretty widely, as is the Logan (if you include Renault form). Pretty much the only place you *wouldn’t* see this is the US/Canada.

Weird. I wonder why don’t both sides have EU license plates? Sint Maarten is supposed to be an equal part of the Netherlands - not even a territory. I also find the size odd. I figured they’d just use something like this on an American car.

This was the Dutch plate on my rental car.

Looking at the assorted wikipedia pages, Sint Maarten is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

I also noticed that some of the vehicles registered in French Saint Martin that didn’t have space for wide, EU-style plates had Saint Martin plates shaped like US plates.

There’s a mix of US and EU-spec vehicles so I guess they have to accommodate the US-spec ones.

I’ve seen US sized plates on pictures of cars in the EU, or in the case of the Skyline, plates that would fit. About the French-side plates, where the US-size ones the typical white front/yellow rear plates with black lettering?

I just think it’s odd that the Dutch side uses full-on US style plates with silk-screen graphics.
