Taken it for a quick test drive and I know I made the right choice when it came to a second car. Only downside is that the USB and aux port seem not to be working. I’ll work on that later. Despite this, I really like the car. Worse comes to worse I’ll just upload music to the hard drive or make CDs until I can figure out the issue.

As for now, it’s time to go do a little drinking with my sister downtown.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ll post some pictures when it actually gets here. I’m actually really excited about it for some reason, almost as excited as the day I got my M3 delivered.

Kinja'd!!!

This is the second 6MT BMW I’ve bought over the phone and then had delivered. The only difference is I drove this one before I bought it.

I could have cut you a killer deal on my 128i man. Oh well. Love the color!

Yeah I wanted a few more options, IIRC you didn’t have the sport pack and I really wanted that for the seats. This one was an M-Sport with idrive, and only 40k miles, basically the perfect DD, so I couldn’t pass it up.

No crap, I bought a Subaru from Hendrick’s auto mall a few years back!

From Mall of GA? This one is from the Mini dealer.

Also, BugEyedBimmer works at the dealer that originally sold my E90. Small world.

Hmm... It was from Hendrick’s VW down near Charlotte, actually. Same logo and everything. Weird...

I was like the only 6MT 328i M-Sport I could find in the country and it was an hour from my parents house, and they provide free delivery anywhere in GA. So I don’t have to figure out how to get it to Savannah. I’m pretty excited about it.

You can find several manual 335i/is M-Sports with 6MTs, but I didn’t want a 335.

Well, yeah, obviously, but I lived IN Atlanta for four years and never knew Hendrick’s was there. So. Weird. WEIRD I SAY!

I believe it’s the same family of dealerships, when I googled the VIN on this car it popped up at all their dealers. At first I was like why is this car showing up in NC and SC. I guess it’s kind of like Carmax and they’ll transfer cars for you, not sure how big the fee is though. I know they offer complementary delivery anywhere in GA, which is great cause that means I don’t have to drive 9 hours in one day to get it.

I don’t blame you there. The non sport seats aren’t that bad, but man that low of miles is great!

IIRC we already went full BMW nerd over this so all I have to say is... NICE!!! A writeup of how you use both cars would be interesting. Suggestion - a gentleman’s exhaust (sporty but not so loud):

I already planning and nerding out and doing an E90 vs E92 review. The E92 was made near the LCI refresh for the E90, so it’s got the pre-LCI AC controls and heated seats controls, but then doesn’t have the smokers pack which came on all the early E9Xs. Also compare an M car to an M-Sport car. So it’s little things like that I’ll talk about and probably also explain why I got another E9X.

M3 is getting the exhaust first, but yes I want to be able to hear that straight 6.

A) I bought my wagon from Hendrick in Charleston.

B) my oldest friend (from age 4) just called me this week and said he is moving to Pooler.

Congrats! I got an E90 6MT M-Sport last August and it’s pretty solid so far. Occasionally I want more power, like when the guy in the F-250 rolling coal blew my doors off, but overall it’s a fantastic daily driver.

Is this the same one you bumped into when you were helping a friend shop? If it was, what did you end up paying? IIRC we all agreed the asking price on that one was pretty high. Regardless, congrats! I wish I was in a position to own even one E9x.

I had an auto 128i and the auto made me want a 6MT, so when I found this one I wanted it. I just had to get them to agree to a fair price, that took almost a month. I may want more power, but I never thought my 128i was underpowered. I’m thinking this is going to be a great DD.

A) seems like others have bought from this family of dealers, I guess it is a small world

B) It seems to be a decent place to live. I came down here to visit this girl I might have met back in August and was like damn, this is actually wouldn’t be a bad place to live. I’m also like 20 mins from my sister, who lives in downtown Savannah. So far I’m liking it.

Kinja'd!!! "William Byrd" (thedriver)
03/17/2017 at 10:53, STARS: 0

It’s an amazing DD. The 6 speed shifts well, a little rubbery getting it into reverse. Be careful, sometimes when you back up, say out of a parking spot, the shifter will find its way back into “R” instead of 1st if you move too fast. Other than that, pretty solid.

And the handling. Oh the handling. I’ve had a lot of fun cars over the years, this one may be the most balanced. And my 2011 still has hydraulic steering, which helps.

As far as power goes, it doesn’t feel any slower than the Focus ST I had, which make sense from a power to weight respect. After having some V8 Mustangs and such, it will always feel a little slow. But for commuting around DC, it’s great.

Good luck!

Yeah it’s the same one. I got it for $7k before taxes, or about $500 more than I wanted to spend. However, I couldn’t find another 6MT M-Sport 328i, so I didn’t want to lose it over $500. It’s a 1 owner care with 40k miles on it, so I think it’s a fair price.

Thanks! I figured I should own a couple BMWs before I meet some girl who wants me to spend less on my cars.

I’ve got a 6MT in my E90 and I haven’t had that problem. It was a little rubbery when I first got it, but I took it in for service and I think they tighten up the connection or bushings or whatever, but since then it’s been a lot better.

Hydraulic steering was one of the reasons I wanted another E9X. The steering in my M3 is about my favorite part of that car.

On the test drive I was in 4th flooring it on the highway and was like well this doesn’t pull as well as the M3, but then it is down 184 hp. It’ll get out of it’s own way though. I figured for the rural interstate commute I’ll have it’ll be fine.

I just remembered that my parents bought their Lexus from them too. They treated me more than fair. I lived 8 hours away and bought the car over the phone.

Just kind of goes to show you, that if you treat people right, you’ll do okay. Reading this thread, it sounds like Hendricks does just that.

if nothing else I’m sure it’ll be really nice to put miles on the 328 instead of the M3 when the weather sucks

They were a little annoying to negotiate price with, but other than that they’ve treated me pretty good. I was basically like your car is way overpriced and I’m in no hurry. I eventually got them to come down 2k. They were adamant about charing me a doc fee and I was like 17k out the door before taxes, and I’ll take it. I think they still charged me the fee, but it was included in the 17k, so it didn’t really matter to me. I didn’t want to pay over 16.5k for the car, but I wasn’t losing the car over 500. I literally couldn’t find another one. Plus I’m getting it delivered for free, so that’s worth something.

Yeah, it’ll be nice to not have to take the M3, I think I’m really going to enjoy this E92. When I was 16, I really wanted an E36 325is, and this is kinda like a more modern version of that. If nothing else, I’ll enjoy being able to keep the miles off the M3, but i enjoyed my 128i at times. I still don’t know how I felt about that car, I think if it was a 6MT, I’d loved it. However, since it was an auto, I never really loved it.

It’s a 2009, but a 1 owner M-sport 6MT with only 40k on it, so I guess for 17k I made out pretty good. There are just so many 328i’s in ATL for low teens so this one seemed a little expensive, but then maybe I got a pretty good deal. Regardless, I’m happy and that’s what matters.

Ah, gotcha. I need to get mine on a lift and poke around a bit. If I recall correctly, I’m the 2nd owner, and I’m curious if he changed anything. Oddly enough, the music that he put onto the HD was pretty solid, left most of it there. haha

I still want an M3 some days.

Your post had me going for a minute haha

I about crapped a cow when it said, “$7K.” It’s good you clarified. Cuz E9x 328's can be had for sub-$10K. It was, like, “No mf’ing way !! How the hell did he pull that off??”

From my brief experiences in the E90 xi, which is auto, tragically; the prediction here is you’ll be very, very pleased with it given the 6MT and M-Sport.

New BMW days are best days :D Congrats man!

I wish I could have gotten it for 7k. You can get a sub 10k one, but it’ll be up there in miles.

The auto was what kept me from really loving my 128i. I was driving around today and realized I made the right choice. It’s prefect apart from the current stereo situation, that will be rectified soon.

Gorgeous. I also learned something new, I never knew the US 328i came with an oil temp gauge. Was it only the coupes / certain coupes with the M sport package? I’ve only driven E90 328i’s.

They were a pain in the ass to negotiate with on this. However when it became evident that I was the only one interested in the car, and I told them that they had to start countering my offer or I was walking, they finally started to negotiate. The car was overpriced and I was like I’m not paying that for it, no matter how much I like it.

I believe all the coupes came with an oil temp gauge. For example this coupe has one. I don’t think the E90 328i got it, just the economy gauge. Interestingly enough, my 128i didn’t have anything.
