Kinja'd!!!

I’m about to graduate and will be working in a field that requires me to suit up every day. I’m pretty set on going with Indochino, despite their track record for mishaps, because I love the variety of colors they offer and the options for customization. Do any Oppos have direct experience ordering from them, and if so, how many adjustments did it take to get the suit perfect?

I have not bough anything from indochino, but I have had great luck at men’s wearhouse. Just watch for their sales, usually you can buy one get one free. I think they even do a buy one get two free around this time of year. Suits are great quality, just beware that you will be paying for alterations, as their suits don’t come as separates. The tailors at my local one are great though, suits fit like a dream!

For the price Combatant Gentleman isn’t bad either. I’ve got two and I’m pretty picky about suits.

They’re not exactly Savile Row but they’re not Kohl’s.

I haven’t heard of them, I’ll go ahead and take a look. Thanks!

And for fit slim fit is SLIM fit. I’m a very slim guy and they’re sometimes a dash tight if I’m like bending over to pick something up. One of my favorites from them is my double breasted navy suit they did a run of... I get compliments on it all the time.

Looks nice but is definitely out of my price range. Im looking at spending roughly $400/ Suit.. Right now with the “Jalopnik” promo, the Indochino Premium suits are all $375. The other MTM option I looked at is Black Lapel, but they’re roughly $100 more per suit.

Advantages of working in engineering: sometimes khakis and button down, mostly shirt and blue jeans or a full FR uniform. Tis nice.

You can get better suits at Nordstroms Rack for $400 and they have a tailor on site. I got $1,200 Hugo Boss suit for $700 a few years ago.

Make sure to see the fabric in person. Some of it looks really, really cheap. The suits are ok, but not as nice as similarly priced stuff you can find. Also, the top button is kinda high. I feel like that combined with the slim fit make it less flattering than it could be on people who arent tall and thin. I tried a couple but ended up sending them both back.

That is good to know. I have an appointment to go to their Boston location on Saturday so I’ll get a chance to see everything in person. Im about 6' and pretty slim so I think I should be okay on the fit. What else would you recommend that is in the same price bracket and similarly modern style? I know Suit Supply is another fairly popular option.

At the kinja discount, my experience was worth it. Still needed some small alterations after ordering online. There may be better deals to be had, depending on where you live, but I live in the middle of nowhere, so it was a no Brainer for a custom suit. I’ve heard horror stories about the store and online, but my experience was ok.

I will have to wear FR at my new job, that made me way too happy. I used to just wear coveralls when I went into the office. Coveralls and Sperrys was an acceptable office attire.

I wear a lot of suit supply. I find the fabrics to be pretty nice and the suits feel and look like they are more expensive then they are. A bit more traditional cut than indochino. Tailoring from them is overpriced, go elsewhere. They can add up in price fast too.

I tried working with the Boston store, and it wasn’t a great experience. I needed a bunch of alterations, and every different employee that I talked to had different answers. At the end of the day, the cut of the pants just didn’t work for me (and I had to argue a lot to get a refund...they aren’t as good about their fit guarantee as they purport). I run/cycle/ski a lot, and the bulk of my thighs left me worried that when I sat down, I would rip the pants apart at the seams.

Ah, that’s disappointing to hear. At the price they offer for the sale, I’m still planning on rolling the dice I think. I may have the measurements taken at my local tailor so that they are more precise though.
