A friend is giving away his 2005 Ford Econoline van that he’s (presumbaly) been using to haul his music equipment around for some time now. This was a good friend from high school who has always been an extremely talented musician and I think he’s finally now “making it” after an appearance on The Voice last year where he came in second overall. In any case, he’s awarding this fine example of Ford’s Box on Frame gem to the individual with the best hashtag describing a beaten down panel van.

I wish you could link directly to things on Facebook. But I can point someone in the right direction if they want a free van in the Nashville area. Pics (out of original order, sorry) and description below, heavy sarcasm included at no extra charge:

Do you want to participate in the Nashville Free Van Give-Away Hashtag Contest?! It’s this simple: IF you want this van just leave the funniest hashtag for it below. I’ll pick the winner in 48 hours and it’s all yours. You have to pick-up the keys from me in Kingston Springs.

Prize Info: 1 2005 Ford E-250 van.

Pic1: 0% Metalized Window Film Tinting on most of the windows.

Pic 2: Custom Triple-Tone Dual-Finish Acrylic Enamel Paint Job.

Pic3: Hand-Selected barely-used Performance Racing tires and Aggressively Stylish Steel Bumper with extra-strength Bungee Reinforcement System.

Pic4: The good side.

Pick5: Hand-crafted floor cover with Safety Belt securing straps for all your equipment carrying needs.

Pick6: Freshly detailed interior with extra in-seat driver-side cup holder.

This baby only has 200,000 miles on it (mostly highway miles). Used to have a second bench seat (it’s in heaven now). Needs a new battery, a jump, and possibly a little love.

Good luck everybody.

E-Series are shit straight off the lot. On the other hand, free van. I’d take it if only for scrap.

Still love the tags one of my favorite bands put on their Econoline, which had managed to make it across the country more times than an Econoline should:

Vanarchy

Couldn’t find a photo of the van to save my life, but for an idea of what it survived, here’s a teaser for a documentary that never came out (van may be in it)

So true. I once rented a nearly new E-350 for a trip with a group of 15 people. It only had about 15,000 miles on the clock but the steering felt like 150,000 miles. I could swing the wheel across a 20° arc over the center point without affecting the van’s direction along the highway. It’s not a surprise that they’re getting replaced by Transits so quickly.

On the other hand, they’re cheap to maintain. Anyone who worked repairing trucks 40 years ago and just woke up from a coma will feel right at home with them.

It’s free because it would cost what amounts to the blue book value to get the funk out...

I’ve only driven two full-size vans. An E250 from maybe the early 2000s, with just over 200k kms on it, and a 1990 Ram B250 that I owned for like 3 months, with well over 400k kms on it. The Ram drove so much better than the E-Series, like a crazy amount. To be fair, the Ram was maintained decently well, and the Ford was pretty abused. But still.

A fresh steaming scoob drives better than an E-Series van.

We had an ‘88 Chevy van. That thing drove better, in 2010, than an E-Series that was MADE in 2010. And the period correct competitors Express/Savanna even more so.

Funk? Nah, he’s more of a southern rock / country singer.

I’ll see myself out.....
