Hope you enjoy your trip. The I-40 drive from Wilmington to Asheville is not super interesting, but once you get closer to the cities (Raleigh, Greensboro, etc.) you will see some cool stuff.

Asheville is wonderful. I love that city.

If you’re into tapas try Zambra. My wife and I ate there on our honeymoon and it’s amazing. Asheville has lots of great food.

I’m in the Charlotte area about an hour towards the beach on 74. If you’re in the area, hit me up at kthooker at gmail dot com.

I was in Oak Island all week until this morning. Now I’m on my way to Asheville to bring my friend back to school and tomorrow morning I’m flying out of Charlotte.

Dang! You’ll likely drive right through Marshville! Don’t blink! I’m at Gaye Chevrolet right on 74. Feel free to stop by if you haven’t already driven by!

I drove right by you on Sunday. The trip out this morning took is a different way- down 95 into SC and then over to Columbia and up 26 to Asheville.

This trip has left me with one lingering question that I hope you can answer for me- Why does NC use abandoned cars as mile markers on the highway? Wouldn’t it be much cheaper to just use little signposts like every other state?

Legit, just got asked this questions by a friend of mine (also from MA) who just visited. Honestly, when things get broken down/impounded/etc it takes forever for a tow company to get out there and grab them. Or, my personal favorite, the cars are just abandoned altogether. I don’t even notice it anymore. When I first moved down here though in 2004, it was shocking.
