Heading to Cuba tomorrow and figured I’d reach out to the Oppo community to see if anybody else has been before, and if so can you share any recommendations.
Well be in Cuba for 5 day and staying in the Vedado area. We are already signed up for a classic car tour, along with a guided tour of Havana.
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to seeing the all the old cars and experiencing their culture.

I am actually planning on living there (or as close as I can come to it) for 4+ months starting sometime in May. I shamefully don’t have much planned out, but this has been my goal for almost two years now and I can finally bring it to fruition. I’d love to hear about how it is after you re-connect to the virtual world. Have a good time!

Hey, sorry I missed your reply! Based on your pictures, it really looks incredible there. I hope you had a good time.
If I end up going, I’ll definitely relay anything worthwhile, though I’m not sure that I’ll have the necessary endurance to stay there for such a period. Still might be putting everything on hold for a while more, but I’m curious to know what your general opinion of the country is!

Hey man, no worries. We really had a great time, everybody was pretty nice to us both as people and tourists. It will be interesting to live there for an extended period of time though, for one thing, no credit cards or atms so it’s an all cash society, and another is the very limited internet access. From what we experienced you have to buy wifi cards (and wait in long lines just to buy them) to get data access, and then there are only hotspots scattered around randomly.

Thanks, that’s some practical info! The way I see it now, the lack of modern conveniences kind of goes in both positive and negative columns for me as I’d like an opportunity to get away from the virtual world. It would likely end up being an annoyance after a while. I hear that Cubans tend to be welcoming and friendly, which is a factor in going there.
