At the business hall of fame induction (youngest and poorest person in the room by 10 years and many dollars) but I got free dinner! YAY!
Part way through the event I realized that it was the exact kind of event that gets robbed by every comic book villain.

I went to a work dinner and it was supposed to be a two beer maximum, the head of the division was like that’s bullshit it should be a two beer minimum. Needless to say, I had a few beers that night.

I went to a work dinner once with the CEO of the company + about 8 other coworkers. I was looking at the menu and there was a $75 ribeye that looked amazing but I wasn’t going to order it because who orders the most expensive thing on the menu when you’re out with the boss?
Then the CEO says to the table “if you’ve never had the ribeye, it’s fantastic. I encourage you to try it.” So I did, and it was amazing.
We drank a lot of very expensive wine that night too. It was a good night.

You’re getting invited to fancy dinners, meanwhile my boss walked up to my desk yesterday flipping through his calendar and said “I signed us up for some bike rides.”
I said, “who’s ‘us’?” And he responded with “you and me!”
Mind you, I haven’t ridden in over a year. I’m in no shape to go on any rides.
I might do two of the social rides. They’re short, slow-paced, and there will be noms at the end. Lol.

Hahaha, it’s not like I’ve got anywhere else to be anyway. I’ll show up to most invitations of free food.
It was funny when the guest at our table asked me if I had kids (I lol’d and said “no, I’m 23) only to learn that he’s the assistant superintendent for the city’s school district.
We’ve got the city wide “corporate challenge” in August. I need to get in better (read:any) shape before that.

Never give a Brit an open bar.
We don’t see it as, ‘oh that’s very nice, we’ll drink respectfully’.
We see it as a challenge to drink as much as possible before they realise just how much the tab is going to be and it reverts back to a paying bar.
