Kinja'd!!!

If, for whatever reason, the Solstice was a little ugly to you, the Sky had you covered. Over/under on GM offering another small droptop/coupe?

Alas, no chance. Too bad, because if they did, I have a feeling, current GM would have a much better chance of doing it properly.

Long odds indeed. They have no platform to build it on, and can’t make enough money on anything but trucks to justify spending what it would cost to build a new platform just for a low-volume niche-market offering.

But I’d buy one used in ten years!

Believe it or not, used prices have held pretty stable. Listings I see are still more than 50% of what I paid 5 years ago.

Exactly. The nameless keyboard racers clamour for these cars online, but when they are actually made and available for purchase...crickets.

While there are a whole host of reasons why those commenters might not have the money, it always boils down to cash. And without people going to buy these cars what point is there to making them.

I am honestly surprised they have kept the Camaro around this long. There can only ever be so many retired men reliving their youth. And while I know that’s not the entire market for that car, I don’t see how there is all that much demand for both the Camaro and the Vette.

Kinja'd!!!

I miss mine dearly and this post isn’t helping! Probably the best car I’ve ever owned (except maybe the MK4), and easily in the top 5 of best handling cars I’ve ever driven.

I still check everyday to see if the right Solstice Coupe has popped up for sale because I can’t wait to own a Kappa again.

I don’t think GM will make anything like it for awhile, which is sad because I know (before they sold it) that Opel wanted to build another GT.

I still hate that the coupe has become an investment car, I’ve only seen one for sale with any real mileage I think. Not to mention every other car dealer lists the roadster as a coupe anyways just to make things difficult

Kappa had an *insanely* short life compared to other GM platforms. I have to imagine they’ve considered reviving the platform but decided against it for (a lack of) sales reasons.

With Buick no longer getting Opels to fill their lineup though, there might be a case for it. Maybe. Probably not though.

I almost bought one of these over my GTO, but having my Sprite project I figured I didn’t need 2 convertibles.

Corvette is one of the best bang for buck cars you can buy. Its for the same reason people coveted the R35 when it first came out. A 60k supercar killer. Now, Corvette isnt quite there... But it has that image.
