Kinja'd!!!

This is a question someone asked me earlier this week when they found out that I was an enthusiaist, thought it was a good one.

No going by parent company, you have to go by badge. What brand could keep you the most happy?

Hard mode: no vintage models or vehicles/brands you can’t afford

I’m stuck between Honda and Chevy, both companies have very few weak spots in their diverse lineups. Honda has a stronger image of quality but Chevy has just about every type of vehicle you are looking for.

Honda.

A Fit for the Wife. I know that your thinking “wouldn’t a new Accord be 100x better?” Yes, but my wife is a quite person with simple taste, she refuses to drive a car that looks at all expensive. She loves her Fit and just wishes it had heated seats. Crap now I wish I had picked Chrysler... heated steering wheels on everything!

Any way... 1991 Civic Daily, S2000 drifr car, EP3 rally car, and A Ridgeline because it’s the truck I need...and also the truck I want.

Mazda. Because Rotary and Zoom Zoom. Even my wife’s Mazda5 is relatively fun to drive.

But if I had to pick a brand based on current vehicle offerings alone, I’d go with Ford. The Mustang, Focus RS, F150, Explorer-Sport, and Taurus SHO are some of, if not my favorite vehicles in their segments.

Vehicles/brands I can’t afford is a low blow. Looks like I’ll be sticking with KIA because they’re alright and are good bang for the buck (and I also already own one anyway, meaning I can afford it).

In an ideal world (one with more monies for me) it’d be Porsche.

A Focus for the wife, a Mustang for me, and an F-150 for being a truck. Maybe a Fiesta RallyX car too. The only reason I couldn’t go with New Honda is 1 no RWD fun, and 2 I think the new Civic is hideous even in Hatchback guise.

If I had to make a lifelong commitment to brand loyalty, variety would be important. If I’m going to be stuck with one badge, it’s got to offer all kinds of vehicles, not just cars.

I think I’d chose a domestic brand like Ford or Chevy. (Dodge is no longer an option, since somebody decided that “RAM” needed to be its own brand.) I’d miss out on luxury cars, but I could be content with mere “premium” cars while maintaining the option of getting pickup trucks and vans.

Mercedes are all ugly now, all of them

Have you seen the new C-Class, E-Class, or S-Class? They all look fantastic as sedans and even better as coupes. The GLC is nice too. By far the best interiors in the world right now as well. On top of that, there are all of the AMG models, and that’s not even mentioning the AMG GT.

Toyotas are getting uglier.

Toyotas reached peak ugly and actually seem to be on the way back. Highlander refresh looks better than before and the new Camry, while not the prettiest car, is definitely better looking than the old one. Also you kept Lexus in consideration, which uses a similar design language.

The only good thing they make is the GT86 and the BRZ is significantly better looking.

While this may have been true before, the new 2017 GT86 is way better looking and far more modern especially in person. The 2017 BRZ, even after the refresh, still looks like it belongs in 2011.

I guess the 4Runner is kinda cool, but why not just buy a JK?

Because the 4Runner is a little more practical and has way better on road manners. The Wrangler is way more specialized than anything else. Even with the other models, driving only Jeeps and no other brands would be a bit annoying.

Hyundai has some good things coming up, and I still like the Gen Coupe all tho I guess Genesis isn’t Hyundia any more...

Said it yourself, Genesis is a separate brand from Hyundai. Pretty limited lineup over there though.

The New Contiental is perfection,

Really? It just looks like a knockoff of a Flying Spur, Audi A8, and Kia K900 mixed together. I’ve been in one and the interior doesn’t look nearly as good as the press photos in person and a lot of the materials, especially the plastics, are super cheap. Additionally, there’s no V8 option and the whole car is FWD based, not RWD based as it should be. The door handles are cool but that’s about it.

and MKZ is still awesome even tho the new styling isn’t as bold

The taillight going across is the best part of the car. Also while it seems neat, even with the “400 hp” V6 (Ford tends to overrate their cars while Germans underrate) you’re still just paying a lot of money for a Fusion with some extra chrome. The interior on that Turbo V6 model is really not up to the $40k price tag. A $25k Passat has better interior materials.

I mean, if I could only shop one brand, I’d take Ford over Lincoln just to get the extra choice and almost the same level of luxury. New F-150/Expedition Platinum is almost as luxurious as the Continental.

And Fiat, I guess could have been crossed off, but i don’t want to say god by to the 500 Abarth.

I mean as cool as it is, you’re not going to only drive Fiats for the rest of your life just for the 500 Abarth.
