Good news everyone! A new phone has been chosen! Buffer image, of course. :P
Purchased new for $130, I’ve chosen the Nextbit Robin to be my new phone. This phone has almost the same internals of the Nexus 5X that I gave to Miss Tesla, so I know this is a phone I will likely love! :)
It’s going to be my cute little toy for probably indefinitely. I love unique phones like this. If I buy an expensive phone again, I imagine it would probably be whatever the 10th anniversary iPhone is. But that’s going to be early next year, anyway.
For another tech update, I’ve created a web filter on my current phone (Droid Mini). The filter keeps me from accessing Breitbart. Why? Well I’ve recently found myself accessing Breitbart just to make myself depressed. I originally intended to do it as a way to make sure I don’t have an echo chamber of news...but the transgender hate is just getting too overwhelming. So for my own health, I am blocking my own access to that site indefinitely. :)

Let me know how the Robin is! When I ordered my new phone, it was between that, and the Honor 5x (Huawei). The Robin’s “onboard storage being merged with cloud storage” thing sort of scared me off, but now that I’m actually looking at it, it’s got better specs than my 5x.

I didn’t get the 5X because I was afraid of getting burned again with Huawei quality issues. I’m pretty much going to ignore and/or turn off the cloud functions if I can. I don’t really use enough storage space to even require the cloud. :)

The only quality issues I’m really having with my 5x is the fact that unless I decide to root it, I’m stuck with Marshmallow (and severe memory drain) until they push an update through with EMUI. Other than that, the only other thing is that everything takes up so much memory, and apps to SD is sometimes a pain in the ass to keep working. Everything else is copacetic though.
And I’m totally down to hang out sometime! I’m actually on vacation (hours got cut, and I’m covering it with PTO) for the next 3 days, so feel free to stop by!

That’s the issue I had with the Nexus 5X. Marshmallow seems to leak memory like crazy in some phones. I always found myself closing all but 1 or 2 apps. The battery life was also garbage. Both issues were remedied by installing CM13 lol.

If I get super impatient with the updates on my 5x, I may just go ahead and root it. I’m just not very confident in my ability to not somehow screw it up. lol
And tomorrow would be great! Just a heads up, my tonsils are super swollen today, which probably means that I’m getting sick (for like the 4th time in 3 months). I’ll try not to be super contagious!

The last couple of times I got sick, it was deathly (not terribly deathly, but my coworkers feared for my life. Specifically when I was on register during the biggest shopping day of the year, and my nose started bleeding). I’m just hoping that this is some weird “oh hey, your tonsils are just swollen, you’ll survive” sort of thing.
