Former 96 Windstar owner here. CP at any price. 50,000km is transmission rebuild territory for these. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This thing is going to need tons of money thrown at it to stay road worthy and it’s a boring piece of crap. If you are going to be crazy enough to keep an unreliable, underengineered heap of shit van clean for 20 years at least make it something interesting like a Oldsmobile Silhouette. What the hell is wrong with this person?!

The Windstar was supposed to be a roomy Taurus and it was actually OK in that regard, but this was before the days when platform sharing had really been figured out. The components that it shared weren’t really up to the task of moving the extra weight and ones that were broke anyway because it was a mid 90's Ford. I didn’t even have it long enough to really worry about rust. I finally got fed up with all the problems around 90k miles and traded it in towards an older Lexus with 148k. That ended up not going well either, but that’s a story for another time.

I nabbed mine used from a dealer I serviced...less than a year later I was split with the ex-wife and she traded it for a Cobalt....and I didn’t have to take the 10 hour trip to MI anymore. Win-win really.
